Description
As promised since my latest journal entry, Lyra Heartstrings. Another experimental piece of mine as I actually chopped up the picture, added a background layer of design paper, and used a gold paint pen; and that doesn't include the Photoshop edits. Since I played around with various art styles on the Princess'ses... Princesses'... Princessi? Someone tell me what the grammatically accurate word for (multiple possessive princess) in the comments. Problem was, Lyra has no real personality in the fan-made works outside of an obsession with human. Tell me whats the reverse of a Furry?
If you voted for another character in the pole, have no fear, because I will definitely put up another pole for the next project come next year.
So tell me what you think in the comments and the critique section. Break it down as you please, and show me my flaws while schooling me on the artistic repercussions of what I put forth. I know full well that this one may offend some people on a certain level, but keep in mind that I have a lengthy explanation of my reasoning behind my latest projects. I will simply continue to work on said portfolio with the help of anyone who can grant me the support of constructive criticism.
Tools used: Copic Multiliner and Copic Sketch Markers on Bristol Board, with Prismacolor Gold Paint Pen and gold/turquoise design paper. Photoshop edits post scan.

Give them a watch as I think they are the only podcast in the community to review and cover fanart and the artists behind them. Correct me if I'm wrong because I would love to see more groups doing podcasts and discussions of Pony Art since it's such a huge aspect of the fandom. If you do find another podcast that talks about mlp fan art let me know.

I appreciate your enthusiasm for my piece, but is a traditional marker painting, not digital. I used Copic markers on Bristol board, with gold paint and design paper.

This piece of art simply blew me away! Colors right from the vintage poster. Amazing execution, amount of detail, oh this is an eyecandy!
One thing which DO bother me, how ever, is lyra's cutiemark. while it is very accurate to original, it looks like it was stamped on otherwise perfect masterpiece, so it doesn't really look like part of the rest artwork. Thinner outline may have worked well, as rest of the pony has very thick outer outline and thinner outline on harir, chin, hoof that holds the harp, you know. that would've taken some of the contrast out, so the cutiemark would acctually turn as part of the pony. Now it looks a bit seperate.
This is definatelly one of the best fanarts from Lyra I have seen so far, keep up the good word. Tons of points from the colors. This is amazing.

The borders of the cutie-mark might be too thick, but I think this is done in the style of 1920s posters, and they were pretty flat owing to the very limited technical ability to do shading, IIRC.

This is such a beautiful picture. I love how this was drawn..and the colors are simply perfect. The amazing detail is stunning. I love Lyra's harp! And you did such an excellent job on her mane and tail.
What I like most is what's surrounding her. The clouds are gorgeous and remind me of swirls of cotton candy! And the border around Lyra is just pretty! I like how it all blends together to make this wonderful piece.
Beautiful work! I just love it! You have a special talent, my friend, and you certainly use it very well! This is a stroke of pure genius!

What do you mean a cover of anthropology? Are you referring to a textbook or a video?
If you are using it for a presentation or a video then by all means. So long as you apply Fair Use Law to it, I'm fine.

I don't do vector art and that seems to be what sells in that market. I was planning on turning some of my work into playmats and buttons in the future, and some of my work can be purchased as posters at Bronyhouse.

Oh wow, thank you. I'll consider it, but I want to make 1 more pony piece before I consider getting a sight to make shirts for me. 1 more Celestia piece, so look forward to that. In the mean time I do take private commissions. I know my rates are a bit pricy for most but I have no filters on what I work on, and I always make the original a lot more special than any scan ends up being.
