Description Painted environment.... I painted this scene using photoshop CS4 using a Intuos 3 tablet...In this scene I did not use matte technique...I usually don't allow download but this one I will... Here is the steps how I painted this scene [link]

The shape of the mountain reminds me a lot of the way the Matterhorn ride looks in Disney

Matte is the combination of using photos, 3d and painting to create a scene...here is an example [link] ...look on Youtube then you will have a better understanding matte painting. The movie business use alot of matte.

I didnΒ΄t knew they call it "matte" IΒ΄m used to call it "photomanipulation", but at the end IΒ΄m not sure whatΒ΄s the difference between them now.

I agree! But I guess it's because you're actually painting in the "missing" parts or something. Not just blending/layer fx like in photomanips. Not quite sure though. I'm getting a book on this stuff soon, it looks like exceptional fun to do!

nice job! the only thing that's sort of bothering me about this is the mountain brush strokes that are completely random. It seems out of place lol but thats my 2 cents

yeah ..I thought you were right so I removed the scratchy rock texture...and changed the scene a little..... thanks for catching that...

I love how you can see all the brush stroke angels while up close and at the same time, sit back and you see the illusion of a mountain scape and river.
