Description
This is coloring and shadowing in 10 easy (not really) steps. It took me about... eh... a month to get used to my tablet. But I'm still learning about Photoshop after having it for about half a year.Alright, I admit it, I haven't taken any formal classes, but hey! This may help you a little, alright? I just took some of the pain out of figuring photoshop out. It took a lot of time to figure it all out for me... Appreciate this a little, please? *puppydog eyes*
Any other tutorial ideas? This one came from a request from a couple friends of mine, so I decided to do it... It's not in my current style, though, since that would throw you off and totally confuse you... I use a whole lot of colors in my most recent style... so... I left that out.
This is a very crude tutorial for beginners... Like... beginner beginners... Just to help them get off of the ground.

Hmmm... well, it might be that your image is too large? In which case, you might want to save the picture as a PNG instead of tha JPEG; it'll make the image smaller bit-wise. If that doesn't work, resize your image. If it's a 25'x40' image or something, it might be too much for the server to make a preview for, so you'll have to make it a little smaller.
Also... I'm not sure, but I've heard that certain color formats require a preview because the deviantart preview-maker can't handle it. But I haven't had that problem myself, so I don't know how to fix it...
I've had the issue before and I haven't quite figured it out... but it went away after time... I'm not really sure what I did right, though... ehehe~ Sorry if I couldn't be of much help... orz.

Holy maple syrup! You are the only person (that I've found) who did a coloring tutorial for photoshop elements 7.0! I'm so grateful, you have no idea.
Only, I don't know how you made it so your color went right over the lines! I 'locked' my backround/lineart, but it goes right over the lines ... Am I doing something obvious that's wrong? Do I have to press something else? Or did I just not read your tutorial right ...? *Iz obvious noob*

Ehehe, that's cool~ Yeah, photoshop elements 7.0 isn't very common... orz... However, all of the tools are the same if you want to look at other tutorials~
I'm afraid I don't really understand the question, but I think you're asking how I get the color to go under the lineart? A common problem is that your lineart is on a white background, not on a clear one. What you have to do is change your lineart layer from "normal" to "multiply". There should be a box that's set on "normal" on your "layers" palette, and if you pull down the menu using the arrow, you'll see that you can change it to a bazillion different settings. But you want the "multiply" setting. Multiply changes your lineart layer from a lineart on solid paper to see-through layer. You can then add more layers underneath it to color your lineart in~ If that's what you wanted to do, then that's how you do it!
However, your lineart has to be in black, otherwise it'll look weird... if it's in red or some other color besides black, then it'll look see-through.
I hope I could help... ehehe~ Play around with some of the other setting there too~ Some of them, like the overlay or screen tool, can change your lineart from black to green or pink or something.
