Description
For this feudal Japan interpretation, I thought of April O'Neil as the daughter of an Irish nobleman. As a young woman, she comes along with her father to visit Japan on business. While there, April falls in love with Japanese culture (particularly martial arts) and decides to stay and train (against her father's wishes, of course). Ten years later, she finds herself in the middle of the Ninja Turtle/Foot Clan struggle.Related content

Another good suggestion!Β I never got around to drawing him, but he was going to be a lost pirate, looking for a refuge from the British fleet.

Ah, I was going to make him a Frankenstein-like mad scientist from England, and his creature is Mutagen Man.

Ha! He would. I still plan on drawing him (it's technically an ongoing series, even if I have no time to work on it), and for this setting I picture him as a pirate, on the run from British authorities and hiding in Japan.

Thanks so much! I still have a few characters I'd like to add to this series, like Rocksteady and Bebop, Shredder, etc. Little by litte! I actually talked to a guy that works with publishers and he suggested submitting the idea to IDW. Couldn't hurt!

I look forward to it! Bebop and Rocksteady were always my favorite (so dumb and funny, no?)
Wow! That surely would benefit you, your art is wonderful and would no doubt shine on the pages of a comic!

Ha! And yeah, Bebop and Rocksteady were definitely fun. They should have been in one of the movies.

You're very welcome! I'd love to see it happen!
Oh yes. The best! And yes they should have! In the 90's I think they made those live action series of TMNT and it had some weird creatures in the second one, I think they were supposed to be inspired by those two, but it kinda sucked

Oh, yeah, the first two movies? Tokka and Rhazar were in the second, but they were a cheap substitute for Bebop and Rocksteady, I thought.

Yeah, that's true--like they did with Venom in Spider-Man 3. I wish they'd just left him out. But then I would have been sad that he wasn't in it, because I wouldn't have known how screwed up it would have been. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Oh yeah, I'm kind of neutral about that one... If it's great, that's great! But if it fails, it will be quite disappointing -_- I don't there's been a really faithful Spider-Man adaption yet...

MurderousAutomaton In reply to UnknownToDeathNorLif [2012-07-14 18:17:23 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I really liked Sam Rami's first two Spider-Man movies, but the third one really let me down. And even though the first two were good, they didn't quite capture Spider-Man perfectly. I've heard mixed reviews about the new one. I guess I'll have to see it for myself!
π: 0 β©: 1
UnknownToDeathNorLif In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2012-07-15 19:30:55 +0000 UTC]
Me too! Yeah, the third one was kinda drab, boring....
I've heard mixed reviews as well, it seems people aren't sure what to think of it XD I'm looking forward to seeing it, though
π: 0 β©: 1
MurderousAutomaton In reply to UnknownToDeathNorLif [2012-07-21 18:15:05 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, the third one was okay for the first half, but I'm a big Venom fan and I really didn't like the direction they took him in. Totally ruined it for me. But I hear Rami was under pressure from the studio to shoe-horn him in, so it really wasn't his fault.
Yeah, I can probably wait for the new one till it comes to the cheap theater! I want to see it, but I'm not in any hurry.

UnknownToDeathNorLif In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2012-07-22 04:33:36 +0000 UTC]
true! Me too, I loved Venom in the 1994 Fox Kids series. (My favorite). I heard that too! It seems that the fourth movie was cancelled because the studio (Sony, I think) was forcing him to make all sorts of changes and do it how they wanted, and not how he wanted... So really, you are right
Same here XD

MurderousAutomaton In reply to UnknownToDeathNorLif [2012-07-28 20:20:03 +0000 UTC]
Yeah! I used to watch that show all the time! Hank Azaria actually did Venom's voice for that show--he does Moe, Apu, Comic Book Guy, and a bunch of other characters on the Simpsons!
Yeah, I know Rami's out after that last movie, and now they've rebooted it so I'm not sure how Venom will fall into it. Just as long as they do it right!

Oh, really? Yeah, it was a great show up until about six/seven years ago. They've run out of ideas and they're just copying Family Guy now. Seems like they're keeping the show around just for the sake of it.

MurderousAutomaton In reply to UnknownToDeathNorLif [2012-08-18 21:59:35 +0000 UTC]
Oh, yeah--I'd say most of the show's run has been genius. It's just these last maybe six to seven seasons that aren't quite cutting it. It seems like it's gotten a bit better recently, though, but not the same as it used to be.

I'd like it if Mirage did stuff like this, a sort of "What if?" ala Marvel.

MurderousAutomaton In reply to Tluaengiad [2010-10-30 02:02:52 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! I'd love to develop this into an animted miniseries or comic! I've always loved the Ninja Turtles, and I think this concept would be pretty unique and fun to explore.
Glad you like my interpretation! I always liked April, but sometimes it seemed like she was too much of a "damsel in distress" in the show--I like picturing her as able to kick some ass! ^_^
I didn't realize it when I drew it, but in feudal Japan it was illegal for foreigners to live in the country. Maybe she trains in secret with a mysterious ninja clan?
π: 0 β©: 1
Tluaengiad In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2010-11-02 02:42:15 +0000 UTC]
Yeah in the original comics she was a scientist and later added some ninja training to her reparta.
I cant remember the guy's name but the same writer who came up with the phrase "Cowabunga" also decided that they, and I quote, "needed a Lois Lane" and thus April became shall we say less than stealthy.

MurderousAutomaton In reply to Tluaengiad [2010-11-03 03:38:19 +0000 UTC]
Ah, yeah, I figured she was more capable in the comic, but my first exposure to the Turtles was the cartoon. I guess for a kids' show, they decided they needed somebody to rescue every episode!

Which raises the question, why not use Irma? Or, for a more comedic affect, Vernon?
π: 0 β©: 1
MurderousAutomaton In reply to Tluaengiad [2010-11-03 17:30:49 +0000 UTC]
Right! Though I guess Irma and Vernon were pretty much limited to comic relief. But I always thought they had the potential to be more substantial characters--Vernon especially, since he's such a jerk. Jerks are always interesting!

Tluaengiad In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2010-11-03 22:55:59 +0000 UTC]

But yeah, I think it's because we all know someone like that in real life. Jerks add realism to even the most fantastic of shows.
