Finally, a Japanese-themed set! I've had this one on my list for quite a while, and with all the requests I've been getting for a yokai set, it seemed like the perfect time to do it!This set was a ton of fun, getting to reference both yokai and different types of Japanese robots! I've always loved Japan's ancient history and their modern pop culture, so this was a perfect way to represent both! But the question remains: which side would win?

Wow, great list! And very well thought-out! Thanks, man! Standouts for me are Red Ink, Kindergoblin, Conundrome and Lock Mess Monster. I see you are also a master of the pun names! Well done, sir.
I do have a series on the backburner I was gonna call "Scare U", that revolved around 1920s collegiate culture--I think a lot of these ideas would work well in that set! If/when I get around to it, I can let you know (and of course I'd credit you)! Though I must say, you have these ideas nailed down so well, I would love to see you create them!

Thanks. I'm one of those people who can't help but create "fan concepts". It's a curse.
I do pixel art, so I might do something sometime, I dunno. "Bootleg Creepazoids" with permission, or something. XD Pixelzoids, I dunno.
But yeah, definitely feel free to use or not use whatever you prefer! That'd be awesome.

Ha, ha! I know the feeling. I have an idea for a TMNT animated mini-series...
Yeah! Your pixel art is great! I thought I had added you to my watch already, but I guess not. I have remedied the situation. I do pixel art, too! Most of it is for Stern Pinball, as animations on the dot matrix display, so unfortunately I haven't been able to post any of it here on dA. Although I should check to see if they'd be cool with it, cuz it would be fun to share!
Anyhoo, yes! Pixel Creepazoids would be amazing! Ha! Pixelzoids! That's got a ring to it.
Some other artists here on dA are doing "tribute" sets of Creepazoids, so they could all fall into the "officially licensed" fan sets.
Cool! Yeah, the whole Scare U idea I have written down is pretty rough at this point, but if I'm able to develop it in the future I'll definitely incorporate your academic ideas! With full credit, of course. Thanks, man!

This is my favorite set thus far, hands down, and I have to say 10-gu is my favorite among the Creepazoids featured, partly because I totally got the ref to your Mythos Tengu and partly 'cuz I just really like those critters in general. I do have to ask though if ALL of these are yokai or just some more specific ones - mecha-tengu aside, I spot a kappa, nekomata, kitsune, jorogumo, and a wicked cool cross between an Ohaguro Bettari and that Ghost in the Shell robot geisha, but I'm not sure if the other three reference yokai as well. Of course for all I know, they could be references to more modern Japanese culture, anime especially, without yokai inspiration necessarily.
Also, I know a few other commenters on this series have asked about creating their own Creepazoid series and you've said yes, so I was wondering about trying the same - I had in mind a fanmade set based on dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures in a Flintstones/One Million Years B.C./Jurassic Park sort of style, which may or may not include the Very Bad Idea of making a Version 2 of Velocity from your Nitro Extreme set (if you'll allow it). The pitch in my head was creating characters based on all the common tropes in prehistoric media, complete with scientific inaccuracies, which would obviously present the challenge of trying to make them all unique and interesting on top of conveying said tropes clearly. I suppose the same pitch could also be made for a future set of your own creation, but I'm guessing that making all these cool and detailed character designs takes up a lot of time and effort as it is (though if you do want to do so anyway, I don't see why you can't ).
Other ideas for future Creepazoid series:
- Fairy Tales, either the generic setting and stock characters like pixies, classic princesses, trolls, dragons, unicorns, and the like, or references to specific such stories like Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk, etc.
- A Darkest Jungle full of threats commonly seen in adventure fiction taking place in this kind of setting. Could include cannibalistic "Hollywood Natives", man-eating plants, dangerous animals like snakes or big cats, a sexy jungle witch in the vein of Prismer of Warr, maybe even a Tarzan expy to top it off, complete with a pet monkey or some other cute jungle critter.
- I think ThatGuy4545 suggested a mythology theme, though that may overlap with your Mythos series; I could spin a pitch on that with a Classical Greek/Roman theme overall, including refs to Greek art and architecture. Could play on all those marble and bronze statues, for example, with imagery including demigods, philosophers, aristocrats, and of course mythical monsters like harpies and gorgons and the like, with a Creepazoid twist obviously. I was partly inspired by Julius Caesar Salad from your Fan Zone I set, though you can go with or without a Version 2 of that one (seeing as that one was a fan-suggestion after all). If you do go with, though, maybe go all the way and make all of them into food puns incarnate - Gorgon-zola, anyone?
- Hybrids of different kinds of animals, especially based on terrible visual puns on different animal names or portmonteaus thereof. Examples could include a Bull Shark (with actual bull horns), a Turtle Dove (a turtle with dove wings), a Rhinoceros Beetle (a rhino head on a beetle's body), and an Owl Monkey (with the head and wings of an owl and a monkey's body), to name a few.
- Kaiju! Could try a Creepazoid spin on all the basic templates derived from giant monster movies from the 50's and 60's such as giant bugs, King Kong-style skyscraper-climbing apes, The Giant Claw, and of course an expy of Godzilla or similar dinosaur-esque imitators. Could also toss in homages to creatures from the Ultraman or Gamera series or maybe even an homage to that NES Godzilla Creepypasta?
Forgive me for the massive text-wall, but I just wanted to put all that out there and hope for the best. In any case, keep up with the awesome work on this incredible series and all your other works!

Wow, this is an amazing comment! I love that you've dissected the set for its references and design elements--I love getting feedback on stuff like that, because I love putting lots of research and thought into creating these sets! I'm glad it's resonating with others in that way! Thank you so much! ^____^
And yes! You're spot on with those references! You're also right about the robots being references to modern Japanese culture--each one is based on a different type of robot in Japanese pop culture: Ghost In the Shell, like you said, then Tetsumo is a cross between sumo wrestling in general and Tetsujin/Gigantor, Mechabuki is a Mobile Suit Gundam based on a kabuki warrior, and 10-GU, in addition to being based on my Mythos design, is mixed with Evangelion. Except for Black T33th, the robots aren't based on yokai. I originally wanted all the robots to be based on pop culture and all the ninjas to be based on yokai, so I kinda cheated with a couple. I guess I could have switched Noh-Face to a robot and Black T33th to a ninja, but I don't think they would have looked as cool. So yeah, Noh-Face is the only ninja not explicitly based on yokai--he's a cross between noh theater and No-Face from Spirited Away. I guess he could be loosely based on a ghost, since he is kinda spooky.
Anyway, I love your idea for a prehistoric-themed set! I would love to see that! You have my full blessing. And feel free to use Velocity--I'd love to see what she'd look like in another artist's hands! Your concepts are great! I love your points of reference and the underlying theme of poking fun at scientific inaccuracies--that spirit is genuine Creepazoid all the way! That might be something I'd like to explore further down the line, like you suggest, but I have such a huge backlog of sets I still have in mind that I think it would be better placed in your hands; you have the concept nailed down in such a way that I think you're better equipped to bring these to life. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
And wow, thank you for all these concepts, too! I'll take'em one-by-one:
-good call on the fairy tales! I actually had written down loose concepts for a set like that, focusing more on the story-based characters. We'll see if I end up doing anything with it! Bear in mind I have roughly 30 pages of concepts written down, so a lot of them will probably never see the light of day. I wish I had more time!
-Oh, the jungle theme would be fun! I especially like the retro pulp angle, though to me it might feel a bit similar to series 15; still, as per your suggestions, there are areas to take it in that I haven't really explored yet (no pun intended, for once )
-Yeah, I've thought about mythology before, too! As you say, though, I think it'd overlap a bit too much into the Mythos series. And as a general rule, I try not to reference existing characters too specifically--most of the time they're more a reference to a trope or archetype rather than a specific character (at least as far as mythology is concerned... well, except for Atlas, I suppose). That might be a reason I haven't delved into the fairy tale set yet. There are always exceptions, though, and your concepts for Greek statuary and lesser gods would be pretty fun! I'll keep that in mind!
-Ah, the animal puns would be fun, too! I actually have something somewhat similar in mind, but I'm still developing it--it would be called "Natural Selection", and would depict extinct animals in outdated clothing or based on obsolete tropes. Examples would be a dodo bird dressed like a '70s "ladies man", an '80s-style Wall Street wolf, a sabre-toothed cat used car salesman named "Smilin' Don", that sort of thing. Your animals hybrids sound fun, though! I'll keep those in mind, too!
-Kaiju!!! That's another good idea! I had actually intended to include a Mecha-Godzilla reference in Ninjas vs Robots, but I ran out of slots. I could definitely look into that for future sets! I've always been a fan of giant monsters, and I could totally see a set in the style of those old King of the Monsters video games.
Anyway, thank you so much again for all your kind words and ideas! I'm really excited that people are enjoying the Creepazoids, and I can't wait to work on some of the new sets I've got lined up! The new one I just started is going to be really silly and fun. And if you need anything from me as you work on your set, don't hesitate to ask! ^____^

Oh wow, thank you for all the info! It's good to hear about all the thought you've put into all of these guys and gals, and I'll definitely look forward to the next set no matter what theme you've got planned for it.
I already have all the ideas for the fanmade prehistoric set, and if I can get the time I may begin sketching them. It may take a while but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait! For when I assemble them all, the general page layout and the Creepazoids logo would be much appreciated (there's the icon of your username as well on the lower right of each page, but I'm honestly not sure if I should include that as well... ) - preferably in PSD file format since I use Photoshop for digital art. I may also post all the pictures indivdually once they're complete, but I won't spoil the concepts at this time - that'd ruin the surprise.
Your feedback on all of the ideas I suggested is good and all and I look forward to your implementations of them, but the highlight is definitely the Natural Selection planned set, which would be hilarious and awesome to see! I actually had a "sabertooth tiger" mafia boss named "Don Smilo" listed for my prehistoric fan-set, complete with a bamboo pipe and striped fur like a pinstripe suit, but your idea is equally fantastic and I'd certainly love to see the outcome no matter where you take it. And please do try a kaiju set in the future - your style would be perfect for movie monster expies and I'm amazed that you haven't done something like that already! Bonus points if you can include homages to various styles of giant monster movie creation like suitimation, stop-motion, puppetry, or even simply putting regular animals in a miniature set.
Thank you for the kind words! I hope I won't disappoint with "One Bazillion B.C.", and I look forward to your future works, both Creepazoid-related and otherwise!

Hey there, SkarmorySilver! Sorry for the delay in replying--it's been a busy summer so far. Hard to believe it's going by so fast!
Anyway, thank you so much! I'm really excited about the next set! I haven't had much time to work on lately, but I'm one character in so far! I hope to have it done sometime later this summer, hopefully late July/early August.
Awesome! I can't wait to see what you come up with for your set! And that name is great--One Bazillion B.C. That fits perfectly into the spirit of Creepazoids! Yeah! Once you're ready for them, I'd be happy to send along a blank poster page with the Creepazoid logo! I can include layers for the check boxes for each character and the text box for the copyright info at the bottom, too, if you want! As far as the Murderous Automaton logo at the bottom right, I think it'd be cool if you used that space for your own name/signature! You should get the glory!
Thank you! Yeah, Natural Selection will be a fun set, once the time comes! I still have quite a bit of development to do on it before it'd be ready, but I think it could be a really fun one! I like your Don Smilo idea, too! That's great! I'll have to look into the kaiju set, too! I kind of scratched that itch already with Ninjas vs Robots (at least the Japanese culture aspect), so it might be a while before I'd return to that well. I like your ideas to include references to all the different kinds of movie monsters! That could make for a really cool set! Maybe frame it all in the a '50s-style movie title screen, a la "It Came From Outer Space!" That could be really cool!
Thanks again, sir! I look forward to seeing your set! ^______^

Thank you so much! Yeah, I decided to heavily base it on the design I used for the Mythos series! This one is supposed to be a reference to Evangelion (all the robots are references to different Japanese pop culture properties), and since the Mythos one already kinda had that look, it made sense.

Thanks so much, sir! That would be a dream come true! I'm going to look into how that might happen... I might be able to Kickstart something, maybe! I'll have to look into it before knowing anything for sure. I have a feeling manufacturing is much more expensive than I'm expecting. But I work for a pinball company who outsources toy manufacturing all the time for the items they put on the playfields, so I know it's possible!

If you get a Kickstarter going for them please let everyone know. Send it across all media you can, print flyers, shout it on the rooftops everything you possibly can.
It might get expensive for legality and manufacturing, but somethings can be done to cut costs. Such as if they have movable parts or not, size of the models, how many done, colors used, etc. It all depends on how you see them on the shelves ready to be bought sort of speak.

Oh yeah, I'll definitely post about it here on dA! And everywhere else I can! Gotta spread the word.
Definitely! I was even toying around with an idea for a stand-alone Creepazoid that could serve as a prototype--sort of like the 100th and 200th, but not as big. Maybe a design that wouldn't require a lot of paint deco, so it'd be easy to prototype. I have a few ideas that would be fun to play around with! And I don't want to get ahead of myself, but one of my friends from work is a talented Z-Brush sculptor, and he's interested in making a print-friendly model! We'll see what happens!

His stories probably would have resembled Ghost In the Shell in some way, which I heavily based Black T33th on--so I suppose a story for the android geisha already exists! Ha, ha! Practice, I guess. I actually have been gradually drawing them larger on paper, then after coloring them I shrink them down to the same size as previous Creepazoids, so I actually am packing more detail into them than I used to. The original drawings were roughly 3" tall, but since Series 11 they've been closer to 4"-6". That's twice the detail!
