OMG This is a fantastic take on one of my fave "Eternal Champions" characters. I don't suppose you have plans for the others... (fingers crossed for Trident)

Thanks! I loved that game, too. I actually had drawn Xavier back in the day, when I used colored pencils. The drawing doesn't hold up well by today's standards, so I might have to re-draw him one of these days...

I had actually planned on drawing him as part of a series I was doing that put Sega's characters in Capcom's art style, as a proposed idea for "Sega vs Capcom". You can check out Midnight here: [link]

Yeah, I think EC was very unique, creative and technical, which is really rare for fighting games of that era. It also had a really well-written and relatively deep plot, which was even rarer for fighting games!

Thanks! He's my favorite character, so I wanted to draw him in a way that sort of delved a little deeper into his state of mind. ^_^

I actually drew it for my brother--he's a huge fan of that game, too!

I enjoy this midknight version, who he must kill for alive, an unfortunantly illness. Midknight is my favourite character, too. In this draw looks like a pirate, i love it!

Yeah, I wanted to portray him as a deadly monster, but still a man underneath.

Definitely! I've found that working with sketchy lines (and using ink) give the drawings a lot of energy and expressiveness. Very manic, but at the same time they can be pretty.

Been meaning to comment on this. I just ADORE the eeriness of it. Very Castlevania-like.

I was reading over yours and 's comments and saw how you mentioned that you made comic book redesigns of all the characters (Though not all of them were on the site. ;_ I'd love to see the whole series (Especially Xavier, lol i'm a pathetic fangirl)! Please? 8D

Go to the Illustration section, then click on the robot directly to the left of the center robot, called "Illustration Archives" and it's the small bubble with the green, dragon-like glowy thing on it, toward the back. I didnt' post all of them, and unfortunately Xavier's was a different size so he's one I left out. But I can email them all to you if you want.

I don't consider them all that good, actually--they're kinda old, so I should probably re-draw them one of these days... Anyway, enjoy! ^_^

This sketch is awesome!! I love the looseness of the line, but I wish I could get to see more of his face. I could squee like a typical EC fangirl and demand that you draw Xavier sometime, however I apologise for only stopping by now, and now I shall... ... yep!

DOOOOD, you remember that game?! Nobody EVER remembers that game! Glad somebody appreciates its awesomeness. Yeah, I wanted his face covered, like he's ashamed of what he's become--going for cheesy dramatic effect. I've drawn Xavier before--I think he's on my website, actually. I've got a Midnight and a whole EC comic in my gallery, so I remember and play it well....

Hopped over to your site (there are windows popping and loading everywhere you click ) and your EC reworkings are col and really drastic! No Xavier tho, but what the hey.

Shadow is very cool, and Xavier rocks, too. I liked Midknight a lot, but he was hard to play as in the first game--he was much better in the second. Larcen and Trident are favorites of mine, too. I used to draw the characters all the time when I was younger! How is it that game never caught on? Sucks.

The EC series was phased out to make way for Virtua Fighter making it's debut on the Sega Saturn, rather than the third iteration of EC. In the meantime, there's loads of links to that bombshell and things EC-related in the Club Journal. ~eternalchampions

Oh, okay--I knew Sega had planned a third enstallment on the Saturn, but I didn't know they scrapped it for Virtua Fighter. That sucks. Me and my brother have fantasized about Capcom doing a Capcom vs. Eternal Champions fighting game--I would die happy!
