Description
More Mythos! I'm having fun doing these again. This incorrigible scapegrace comes from English folklore, where he would terrorize parts of Great Britain (especially England, specifically London) during the Victorian era, slashing people up (or just their clothes) and then bounding away in huge, gravity-defying leaps, laughing maniacally. What a cheeky devil!

Great idea! Interpreting legendary monsters is always fun! Whenever I do something like that, I like to look up as much reference as I can online to get an idea of what other people have done, and for how the creatures have been traditionally represented by their respective cultures. It's always fun to add some authenticity to the design! But of course that's just a starting point--the real fun is making it your own! That part really depends on what kind of stuff you like to draw, or what about a character you find particularly inspiring or interesting. I know this is kind of abstract, so feel free to ask me to elaborate on anything or to ask for more specific details.

I llove that you captured the fire breathing part of the tale! Lots of people forget he breathed VARIOUS things at his victims!

Oh, really? That's interesting! I knew about the fire, but what else would he breathe?

There was a knock out gas and maybe an early chlorine gas or something that victims claimed “burned the lungs and eyes”..
So sorry in the delay in repling, I never checked my notifications before!

Oh, okay! That does sound kinda familiar, now that you mention it. That wacky ol' Jack!
No problem! I get behind on comments all the time. More often than I'd like to admit, actually.

Ha, ha! You're absolutely right! I'd like to try a version of him that looks more like the old etchings from his era, where he wore that strange cat-like helmet and skeleton-patterned jacket. He almost looked like a Goth biker!

Ooh, creepy! Are those dark flappy things behind his legs another pair of limbs, or are they some kind of devilishly dapper coattail-like structure?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MurderousAutomaton In reply to Gusindor [2017-07-01 18:16:41 +0000 UTC]
They are indeed devilishly dapper coattails! One must dress appropriately, even if one is a monster.
Some descriptions of him mentioned that he was dressed like a gentleman, which is probably pretty rare for monsters! I thought that'd be fun to play around with.

Ah yes, it's important to have class while terrorizing the populace. Style makes the difference between an urban myth and an urban legend!

Ha, ha! How true! You got yer low class beasts like Bigfoot, running around flapping his bits everywhere, and then you have Jack, a monster with style and taste.
