Description Strawberry Shortcake and WilyKit, from my post-Apocalyptic 80s toy storyline.

Shortcake's the humorless leader of the Rebellion against Brainy Smurf. Never far from her is Kit, a strange, cat-like child found near her dead twin brother after the war. She's emotionless and mute, but follows Shortcake everywhere she goes.

No, I never played Zelda--I was a Sega kid. Sounds like it was a cool game! Is Tora-Con a Zelda convention? Or a Nintendo convention? Sounds cool!

Oh gosh no. Tora-con is just an anime/manga convention. I would never go to a stricly nintendo or even strictly zelda convention. >_< I'm not that nerdy lol. Heck, the only reason i can go to Tora-con was because it's hosted at my sister's school: RIT.

Ha, ha! I know what you mean--I love the Transformers, but I've seen footage of the conventions, and they kind of creep me out!

Tora-con sounds coo, though! RIT--what school is that?

I'm thinking of going to a steampunk convention in May--I like the style a lot, but I'm not very familiar with all the aspects of it--and I'd like to learn more for a commission I'm working on for a steampunk Sherlock Holmes!

Haha. I loved the Transformers. I've never really seen a real convention, but it seems like a fun couple of days to me.

The Rochester Institute of Technology.

Oh Steampunk is really cool. I don't know too much of the style either, so I couldn't draw anything in that technique. Haha
Steampunk Sherlock Holmes?? Heck yes! I just saw the recent movie too and I loved it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MurderousAutomaton In reply to Desopilar [2010-03-09 00:35:52 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I haven't been to many conventions. The coolest thing like that I've been to was a Halloween Expo--all the crazy Halloween products and haunted house props out for display! I bet an anime convention would be a blast!

Yeah! That movie was cool. I had thought about drawing Sherlock Holmes when that movie came out, so now I get the chance! People say my style is Steampunk, but I never intended it to be--that's just how I draw! Weird.

That would be quite awesome; going to a Halloween convention. I'm gonna have to save up so much money: To get to Tora-Con and back, to buy a few things while I'm there, and then I get to go see Wicked in NYC this summer(most likely) so I have to save up money to get there and back. Gosh, rich people are so lucky.

Your style for your Post-Apocolyptic characters seems a little steampunkish. All of you other deviations are more of a mix between morbidish and cute. lol.

Yeah, I would agree with that! People usually compare my work to Tim Burton's, which is fine with me, because Tim Burton RAWKS!

I know! There's so much stuff I'd do if I had more money, like travel. But you can have fun at conventions even if you're broke. Wicked's supposed to be really good! Is this the first time you're seeing it? Have you been to NYC before? I tried to go a year ago in February to the Natural History Museum, but it was so crowded and crazy that we couldn't park and went back home. Next time I'll take the train!

Desopilar In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2010-03-13 02:23:32 +0000 UTC]

Oh heck yes! I love Tim Burton

I haven't seen Wicked yet. We were supposed to see it in 8th grade with the Orchestra but my teacher was an idiot and though that we could buy tickets for it a month in advance. Nope. So we saw Mama Mia instead. I've read the book though and I've heard some of the music. My friend on the other hand has seen the musical but hasn't read the book. So I bought her the book, and she's gonna buy me a ticket.
I've also traveled through NYC to go to the Long Island Sound for this Biology Enrichment Program thingy. Oh that sucks. How long of a drive was it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MurderousAutomaton In reply to Desopilar [2010-03-17 18:09:01 +0000 UTC]

Totally! Burton's my favorite director. I just saw Alice In Wonderland, which was really cool, but the writing kind of fell flat.

Oh, that's cool! I've never seen the play, but I've seen photos of it--the sets look amazing! Very large and intricate.

Biology Enrichment Program? That sounds pretty cool--is it school-related?

I'm about an hour away from NYC, depending on traffic, so it wasn't a huge waste of a trip. We hadn't been to New York for about 15 years, so we were surprised how much more populated it had gotten over the years!

Desopilar In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2010-03-17 21:03:09 +0000 UTC]

I saw Alice in Wonderland this past Saturday in 3D! I loved it. There are a lot of mixed feelings about it though. A lot of people didn't like it because they were expecting the original story so it was unexpected. I knew what was coming and was geared for it. It was my first time seeing a movie in 3D though, but that was cool! I though I was going to get sick at fist. Haha. Imagine it if you saw it at an IMAX theatre.

Yeah, me too. And I've heard the music!

It was school-related. The state paid for it and only 4 kids from each school could go. It was a lot of fun and we got to swim at a different beach every day. Which was fun, but also not so much haha. It's always hard to get into the water at first, and every beach made it harder; the waves got higher and there were more rocks at the front of the water. I'm such a paranoid person too! It was out of jellyfish season though so I wasn't too worried

Really? I'm about 8 hours away I guess. I'm from around Syracuse. It seems odd that you haven't gone for so long, with you being so close to the city and all.

MurderousAutomaton In reply to Desopilar [2010-03-23 00:04:20 +0000 UTC]

I didn't see it in 3D--I had heard that the glasses muted the colors too much. I really did like the movie, though, I just felt that the writing didn't really add anything to it. Everybody kind of just said what you expected them to say--not a lot of character or originality. But the art direction and performances were great! I think my brother's going to see it in IMAX--it'll be interesting to hear how it is!

That sounds awesome! Beaches? Nice. Was it related to oceanography or something? Or just an excuse to have fun on beaches?

Oh, yeah, I've been in Illinois for the last 15 years. I'm actually from Illinois, but we lived in NJ from 1990-1996, then we moved back this last August. I won't be here permanently--only till I find a new job (wherever and whenever that will be!). ^_^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Desopilar In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2010-03-24 02:33:42 +0000 UTC]

Well, I've never seen anything in 3D before, but it didn't seem to do too much to the colors. I thought it fascinating how they make that whole concept work lol. I noticed that the things that were supposed to be in 3D were blurry without the glasses though. True the writing did lack a little, but It didn't ruin it enough for me I was reading some article about the one scene in movies that manage to ruin the whole movie. The scene in Alice was the one with the Hatter doing that dance. lol. Oh gosh IMAX would make it awesome!!!

Nah, just to go swimming. The rest of the time was occupied with zoning different types of areas. That week was the first time that I had ever seen fiddler crabs, starfish, jellyfish, sponges, and sea urchins all up close before. It was so much fun. And the people were awesome too! Though, I didn't stay in contact with any of them, and I'm kind of sad about it.

Oh wow really? My sister, brother-in-law, and nephew are in Illinois now. Is New Jersey as bad as the rumors go? Lol. Where is a place that you'd like to be?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MurderousAutomaton In reply to Desopilar [2010-03-28 18:37:10 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Hatter's dance scene was a little... odd. I guess that was the point, but it seemed too "breakdance" inspired--I was hoping for something more like the Mamushka from the Addams Family movie!

Oh, that's cool! I'd love to see those animals up close. Maybe you could look those people up on Facebook or MySpace or something?

Ha, ha! Naw, Jersey's okay. Lots of trees and forests, actually! It's nice, and they really cover up the toxic waste dumps. Illinois' nice, but I have a feeling I'll end up in a different state entirely once I find a job. Maybe CA or Nevada!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Desopilar In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2010-03-29 20:31:25 +0000 UTC]

Haha! Yeah, me too. Only a little less dark and such. I was expecting an extrvagent waltz or something like that. But I guess that's what you get for being in Wonderland, or Underland, or which ever it is

Well, we exchanged e-mail adresses and home addresses, but we didn't talk too much. I was invited to the birthday party of one of them, but she lives so far away from me that my Mom wouldn't take me. That girl has a piece of art published in one of the Spectrum books. She was so cool, and she gave me a few pointers on drawing. Sadly, I never really used what she taught me except on one art piece. I guess I use her advice when I doodle though. lol.

Oh really? I like the idea of the forests. When I was a kid in the town i live in now, every time it was going to rain, you could smell chocolate from the Nestle's factory. Before they got rid of it at least. I guess you guys could smell toxic waste? Haha!
CA or Nevada?? Aren't they hot?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MurderousAutomaton In reply to Desopilar [2010-04-13 02:24:37 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that would have been cool! It just really stood out--a modern "hip-hop" type dance in an overall Victorian movie. Tim Burton's one wacky guy!

Wow, that's awesome! That Spectrum magazine is great. I passed my website along to them, but they said it can take up to a year to catch up with their submissions. That's probably a nice way of saying I won't be hearing from them! That's cool, though, how she taught you some art stuff. That's what's cool about art--you can always learn something new!

I guess you could always look them up on Facebook, if you still have their emails. I stay in touch with a lot of people that way.

Ooh, Nestle factory! That would be sweet... ^_^ Well, it depends on what part of Nevada or CA--I think toward mid-state it's actually pretty mild, like 50s-70s all year round. I could live with that, but I'd miss the snow.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Desopilar In reply to MurderousAutomaton [2010-04-18 21:49:41 +0000 UTC]

Yeah he is. But that's why he's got such a huge fanbase lol. I wonder how the Johnny Depp fans took it. They all think he's hott and cool, but to see him do such a wacky-type dance. I wish I could've seen some of their faces lol.

I don't know, I think you'll be in their magazine. I really do think that it takes them a long time to catch up. They're a popular art magazine and so a bunch of people try to get in. Besides, how could they deny one of YOUR art pieces??
Yeah, she taught me that you can't name the thing that your drawing while you're drawing it. Like, if your drawing a dragon, you can't think "I'm drawing a dragon" or else you'll have a pre-set idea of what a dragon looks like and your drawing won't come out right. I like to use that idea when doodling and recently i've been having a blank mind when drawing. It just happens that way. I don't ever really think too much while I'm drawing except maybe some stuff to add to the clothes, but that's when I'm really really excited about it. Haha.

That's true. I never really thought about it haha. I don't even know why. I really want to see if my artistic friend has a DA account.

Yeah. I like the mild temps. I also like snow though. Just to look at it mostly. Snow can be so pretty. I also like rain. I don't really know why. It may be because it always seems so clean after it rains. And it always smells so nice outside after it rains.

Yeah, I don't know--I don't think critics really liked the movie, unfortunately. South Park even made fun of Tim Burton! NOOO! Don't make me choose! The cool thing about Johnny Depp, though, is that I don't think he sees himself as a heartthrob--he just likes acting and likes being silly when he portrays certain characters. Nice to see that even he doesn't take himself too seriously!

Aw, shucks! Thanks! It would be such an honor to be in that magazine! We'll see what happens.

Ah, that's cool! A good approach. Art comes more naturally if you don't put so many labels or expectations on it. Inspiration and art are more like a river you drink from, rather than a faucet you turn on and off. That would be cool if she had a dA profile! I'd like to see some of her work, too.

Yeah, it would be nice not to have hot summers! I can't stand hot weather. Rain is cool! It does smell nice, and it's a great sign of spring! Makes you feel renewed.

Well this one person I know said a whole bunch about Johnny Depp, so I don't even know what's right haha. He was saying how Johnny Depp hates America and hates doing films in America and wants to move his family to Europe and act there instead. That would be a whole new perspective on Johnny Depp, but I feel like if he hated it all that bad, everyone would know. News like that would spread like a wildfire so I don't believe it.

I forgot to look for her, and so I did just now lol. Sad thing is I don't have her last name or e-mail address :/

Oh gosh I love the smells too lol. I just grabbed some lilacs from my Grandmother's tree and put them in a glass next to me. Every breath is like heaven XD

For instance, Mr. Potato Head, the Rebellion's engineer/mechanic, is just a dumpy guy with bad skin, who has the appearance of a potato. He's not literally Mr. Potato Head. Sort of like that!
