What program did you use
to color it?

I love the softness and
tones in the skin.

Well, mostly a pretty unknown program called "Art Rage 2" and some touch ups with Photoshop CS2

and the background is a photo

Oh my goodness!
Haha,
I have Artrage 2.5

I've hardly used it, though.

well, i really love the program: it's easy to use and give's you a lot of freedom. and the most convenient feature for me is the unlimited times you can Ctrl+Z -> it's so annoying correcting mistakes in Photoshop.
you should definitely fool around with it, it's addictive
hah, the world's so small

Sorry for being a over a week late in responding! I really like the soft purplish-blue you chose for the shirt and you definitely nailed the shading and lighting. The soft contrast fit nicely with the background, though personally I find the skin tone might be a little dark in contrast to the light colors around it. But overall, I love it! Thanks a lot for coloring it, I'm sorry for making the lineart so...sketchy and unclean ;A;
