"Oh, is...is this for me, my dear?"This was done as a commission for the marvelous *Brinatello ! Olivia's being a sweetie and Basil is not used to getting presents, especially from little girls. Watermarked as per request.

Oh wow, thank you sah. I think I put the most thought into this one out of all that I did; it was the first picture I drew of them, and I was especially crazed over GMD at the time (not that that's changed much). I don't ship it, but I like their friendship.
I pencilled it originally on paper, and then inked and colored it in CS3 with my tablet.
I would say I'd love to do an art trade, but I currently have five or more lined up and it's quite a horrible process trying to get myself to actually do them. Down the line might work, though. ;3

I love a lot of things about this fanart.
One of them is that this scene isn't in the movie (something that I discovered yesterday while I was rewatching it) and that tells me that you're creative.
Another thing is that you drew them with black eyes like they have in the movie, despite of a lot of Deviants who draw Basil with green eyes or something.
But I do have one complaint, I honestly think that if Olivia would ever give him a present it would be a violin. I remember myself screaming: 'No! his violin!' when he sat up on the sofa xD I can picture a deviantART in which she is hiding a clumsily wrapped violin as a present wishing to make him happy.
Oh I wanna draw something like that! Anyway, very well drawn!

I was contemplating giving them their eye-colors, but ended up not to stick with the style more. I think the reason people do that is because those are their eye colors, but they're only shown a couple of times in the movie.
Actually, there was a deleted scene where Olivia and Hiram give Basil a new Mouseivarius at the end of the movie. Wish it was in the movie :<

When I first started drawing the characters, I gave Basil emerald eyes and Olivia brown. Though, fanfic writers give her blue eyes. Basil is shown with green eyes when he's got that psycho look on his face in the mouse trap ("We'll set the trap off now!").
Colored eyes or not, I still love my commish. I can now see it every time I walk into my bedroom, sitting on top of my dresser.

I felt awful that Basil broke his violin. In 2008, I drew a picture of him getting a new one from Olivia. Then, a few months back I got the In-House GMD script and found out the Flavershams give Basil a new violin. They present it to him at the end, before they depart. It's in the German comic book, too. Seriously didn't know that!
So, you could say the violin gift happened when they first met on Olivia's case and the flower gift came much later!
