Remember Jervis Tetch from Batman The Animated Series? upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia⦠www.toonzone.net/anbat/btas/ma⦠Well, guess who I'm going to be for Halloween? I was trying to find our decorations when I stumbled upon one of my costume bins and in it was my unfinished "Mad Hatter" costume. (thought of doing this last year, but I didn't have everything) So I spent a few days putting things together and viola! Jervis Tetch.The shirt, pants, coat and shoes were located at my local Salvation Army. The spats, gloves, bow, and hat were purchased. I dyed the bow (clowns bow) black and sewed back the corners. The hat got a new blue ribbon and 10/6 card and I also added new buttons to the dark blue coat.
I like to think I'm reusing clothing by finding costumes this way... but really I can't sew and I'm just lazy...

There is absolutely nothing wrong with found item costuming. I think it's great for people who can't sew! Nothing is more sad than a sad looking costume. This looks really amazing, wow! Awesome job! Have fun dressing up later this month!

SWEET. I am not sure of what fabric the overcoat is (wool?), but it works!

And the gloves... they have the lines-oh-holy-cow. 8D
What blows me away the most, though, is the posture and the smile.
One request: Could you take a picture of yourself bowing/tipping your hat? That would be full of epicness!

Wow! As far as I can tell, this costume is pretty much perfect. All the details present in Tetch's garb as seen in B:TAS appear here, the colors are just right (great dye job on the bow tie!), and on a side note, I want that coat! If I saw this costume at a Halloween party or at some kind of convention, no matter how many Mad Hatter variations were present, I would still recognize you as Jervis Tetch.
It's refreshing to finally see someone cosplaying Tetch. Both Wonderland and Batman-related cosplays seem to have been pretty popular this past year, and yet I can never find a Jervis Tetch anywhere.
All in all, well done on the costume, and have a happy Halloween!

Thank you for such a great review on my costume! I'm glad I'd be recognized. The guy at the costume shop says that everyone wants to go as the Mad Hatter from the new Tim Burton movie.

I'll probably be cosplaying Cosmo from Fairly Odd Parents this Halloween. This will allow me to go completely insane on a sugar high and still stay in character. ^w^
