Description
Ten hours. Over ten hours throughout three weeks, this took. My hand was literally cramping when it came to the background. But it was worth it.I realized too late that I'd done Christine's hair two different ways, but as this was a birthday present for a friend I can't fix it now. I found a permanent style for it, in the one where she's with the Phantom though. It looks a billion times nicer that any way I've ever drawn it before.
Howard McGillin as the Phantom
Jennifer Hope Wills as Christine
Raoul is Ryan Silverman
Phantom and affiliated things belongs to Gaston Leroux and Andrew Lloyd Webber
Howard, Jennifer and Ryan belong to themselves.
While favs and collections are much appriciated, COMMENTS are really what makes the artist know their work is liked. If you're going to fav/collect, PLEASE comment. Thanks!

It's awesome? But, what's that growth under Erik's lip?

That's actually part of his lip. In the stage version it's just as deformed as the rest of the right half of his face.
Here's a couple good photos that show it: [link] [link]

It's definitely worth checking out -- by far my favorite version of the story. There are some excellent performances available on YouTube if you're curious (I especially would recommend looking up Gary Mauer and Beth Southard, and anything with John Owen-Jones or John Cudia. Amazing actors).

Awesome work! This would make a great poster if they ever made another movie based on the musical.

While Erik is my favorite character, no contest, I'm a Raoul fan. If Christine hadn't chosen Raoul, we wouldn't have a story, would we? Or ideas for fanfiction
And thank you for all the favs and the watch. Much appriciated!

He irritates me in the Leroux novel sometimes, and he's a rather underdeveloped character in most other versions (ALW musical included). I still love him though.
And I am clearly in the minority of the fandom for doing so.

Yeah i dont really like him much, but thats just because hes a bit of a ponce and i find him irritating, but i freely admit he isnt worked on as a charachter enough- maybe if he had i would like him more

musical-miss In reply to pink-polar-bear [2010-06-18 04:50:29 +0000 UTC]
Unfortunately that's the way a lot of the fandom feels about him I wish he would actually get a full character in some version someday. I'm still hoping for a truly Leroux-faithful movie adaption sometime in the future that would give us that fuller person. I'm just afraid the success of the ALW stage show has scared everyone off. Still, I guess it gives those of us who love Raoul room to develop him in our own heads the way we like (NO LND PLZ, KTHNXBAI).
But, as I've said, I can certainly see where you're coming from with the irritating argument, in the Leroux novel at least. At certain points I know I verbally expressed my frustration at him while reading for the first time.

yeah a faithful movie would be good, though deffinately unlikeley, as it would be hard what with the bias of the fandom....
lol so did i, and probably got weird looks for it XD

true, and even within the musical diehards (i loove the musical but i wouldnt count myself a diehard) there is a split between Gerik and Crawford and then of course the other stage phantoms.

musical-miss In reply to pink-polar-bear [2010-07-13 17:26:11 +0000 UTC]
Exactly. There's too much split between everyone's favorites. And no matter what you're doing with anything, it's simply impossible to please everyone. They did a respectable job though; even those who aren't fans of the movie can still usually find SOMETHING they like about it.

Exactly. I may not be much of a fan of Gerard or Emmy's singing, but my god I adore Patrick Wilson. And Minnie Driver (though she didn't do her own singing).

She's made a few, to my knowledge... the one I have is called "Sea Stories". Very nice, soothing, great for car rides. Check it out if you're fond of "Learn to Be Lonely", there's a few songs on there that might interest you.

This is great! I love how you drew Christine with both Raoul and Erik, sort of making you think, "Who should she be with." I always lean toward the Raoul/Christine side, but some versions make me lean toward Erik/Christine. Depends on how Raoul and Erik are portrayed, I guess.

musical-miss In reply to Nightingale-Duet [2009-10-07 18:55:51 +0000 UTC]
Oh I agree completely. If Christine hadn't stayed with Raoul in the end, the story wouldn't be anywhere near as loved. I was trying to portray the difficult choice, so I'm very glad it came across.
Thank you!
