Description
Okay...so these 3 gals are my main human OCs. All from different fandoms. Let us meet them from left to right, shall we?Kaliana: Originally a Naruto OC; niece to Kakashi Hatake and cousin to Kiba Inuzuka. She is, of course, a ninja.
Kaliana is a lazy pacifist who, although she is talented in the art of smart-assery, hates fighting. This is actually a good thing, since she was born with the soul of an evil hound-demon trapped inside her body. The demon is in a deep slumber; partly subdued by the tiny tattooed seals all over her body, but mostly locked within her subconscious by the mystical White Chakra which is produced by her sword, Hizoku. Hizoku talks to Kaliana via telepathy (so when she talks to it out-loud, everyone thinks she's crazy).
Kaliana is my oldest character and I've been developing her for nearly 8 years now. I'm particularly fond of her, since I've had her so long. She is featured in my fanfics "Little Spark: Intro to Fire Hound" and "Fire Hound: Eye of Destruction", both of which can be found on www.fanfiction.net under the author-name, M.W. Roach.
Tess Robyn: Originally a Peter Pan (2003 version) OC; accidental visitor to Neverland and eventual love-interest for Captain Hook. Tess is, naturally, a pirate.
Tess Robyn is actually a normal girl named Contesa Perez--a costume-maker-- who wishes to win a costume contest during a big pirate convention. She bases her pirate-character, Tess Robyn, off of Jack Sparrow. She acts like him, walks like him, talks like him, and even drinks like him! But due to a mishap during her flight to the convention, Tess falls out of the plane and is 'sucked' into Neverland. Tess takes advantage of her new surroundings and after a while, she actually begins to believe that she's really a female Jack Sparrow. She eventually goes completely insane and believes she is seeing incarnations of the real Jack Sparrow all around her.
Tess is my second-oldest character of the group. I've had her for just about a year. She's a very likable character and I enjoyed making her into a lady-Sparrow
LaRoq: Originally a Hunchback of Notre Dame OC; an enemy of Frollo, friend to Esmeralda and 'hostile acquaintance' to Clopin. LaRoq is, you guessed it...a gypsy.
LaRoq travels to Paris from her devastated home in Belgium after Frollo has her entire clan murdered. It is in her interest to take her revenge on the twisted, corrupted judge. Clopin tries to warn her that Frollo is a man that is best left alone, but when LaRoq ignores his warnings, Clopin tries to force her to give up her quest. She manages, after being constantly interrupted by the nosy Gypsy King, to finally exact her revenge on Frollo by stealing countless possessions of his and then frames Clopin for the misdeeds. A day before he is hung, she breaks him out of prison.
They part on hostile terms, and when LaRoq returns a few years later (after Frollo's death), Clopin is infuriated at LaRoq's presumption that she can take refuge in the Court of Miracles and lie in hiding from the many, many enemies she's made over the years. Tensions rise as Esmeralda tries desperately to make peace between them, until finally, the hostilities come to a head as the King and the girl break out into a violent fight--literally. Afterwards, they come to accept and respect each others differences.
LaRoq is my newest OC, being hardly a week old, but I'm totally into this chick and I find her character to be sarcastic, sneaky and terribly rude. She's very different from the other two, but that's what makes her awesome. I have not written her in a fanfic yet.
So, there ya have it! The Gypsy, the Ninja and the Pirate.
Which do you like best?
Done with sharpies and colored pencils.

Would you look at that?
Roach! Long time no see!
I immediately did a double-take on Kaliana there and realized that that character was in fact the same character I had heard of many years ago. My, how time flies. Good to see you, Roach.

Well, well, well! Long time no see indeed! I love seeing old friends from the ancient daa^3 days How have you been, my dear?
Yup, Kaliana is still goin' strong! I don't think I could ever abandoned her I have quite a bit of fanart of her, and in this pic, I updated her outfit
Always gotta keep the girl lookin' fly.
Good to know you're still around, love! Keep in touch ^_^

Likewise, Roach. I've been good, thanks for asking. Yeah, I haven't heard of daa^3 in the longest time. How long's it been, 6 years? Wow.
Anyway, yeah, it's good to see you too Roach! Honestly, I would have never guessed coming across any of you again. XD
Nice to see Kaliana's still around! I miss her. Y'know, if I hadn't been searching for "Captain Hook", I never would have found this. Thank God for little miracles.

Yeah, I heard daa^3 was shut down quite a while ago...at least 4 years ago. WLK, is still quite active here, I've been talking to her again lately. Katie and Kanna used to be active here, but they left a few years ago, as did Tres. Only a few of us remain now.
Yup, Kaliana's been written into 2 fanfics and there's quite a bit of older fanart of her floating around here from the old daa^3 gang. I've been drawing mostly horse art or Disney art lately, though. This new pic of Kali has been the first art I've done of her for almost 2 years now. I've been paying particular attention to Disney-related stuff, so when I decided to draw my pirate OC and gypsy OC, I decided to throw Kaliana in there as well. Glad I did! How else would you have recognized me?
Gotta love little miracles

Truth is, I recognized your username off the bat - MWRoach - but was skeptic if it was the same Roach I used to know back at the Inuyasha world. Gosh, it honestly has been too long. <3 Well, as I was saying, I recognized your username from previous works that I've done or made and began realizing somewhat of a pattern. Stop me if I'm starting to come off as a creep, but I was going to send you a message. I just let my inhibitions get the better of me. Sorry. -hugs- I'm very glad to be here communicating with you at this moment, doll! You have no idea how much I've missed you and the gang.
As for the Disney-related thing, yeah, I think it's safe to say I'll call you out on that. I've been into the Disney fandom as well since 2010 and have begun making artwork for them recently. I don't know, I guess I just owe it to my memorable childhood. ^^' Oh Roach dear, I would love to ask to have an art trade with you, but perhaps you are burdened with real-life stresses and haven't the time for little ol' me. I have commissions to start on and fimish as well, but my eyesight is starting to deteriorate. -sigh- Sadly.
By the way, and you may call me terrible for this, but... I don't remember W-L-K.

Yeah, that would be the dead giveaway! My username on all the sites I join has a 'Roach' somewhere in it XD I find it wonderful that you found me Not creepish at all! I love when old friends take the time to find me (cuz Lord knows all my old friends have a million different usernames, which makes it very hard for me to find them!) I've always been a Disney fan since I was little, and I had always wanted to draw like the Disney artists. It took me a long time to gain the confidence for it, but I finally mastered a few, especially Bambi-style. But then again, I've always had a knack for animals. It's drawing humans I still need to work on. But I'm getting there. All of my human-art has a distinct anime quality to it (which pisses me off, but I can't help it since drawing anime was the main way I learned how to draw humans). I'd like to draw a human that actually looks Disney-style though! That may take a while! Oh, my dearest, I would LOVE to do an art-trade with you! True, I am burdened with real-life stresses (who isn't?) but that has never stopped me from accepting art trades from awesome people and friends. What did you have in mind?
I'm sorry that your eyesight is deteriorating! I've had to wear glasses my whole life since my eyesight sucks.
W-L-K's username on the old anime site was wee-liitle-kitsune.

Oh where to begin? I feel so horrible for not having recalled wee-little-kitsune.
I feel like she's there, a part of my memory, but that part of my heart has been long since forgotten. <|3 No worries Roach, we're on the same boat. My eyesight will forever continue to deteriorate unless I do something about it. Silly me! XP As for your drawing abilities, well, let me just say that you've improved one-heck-of-a-milestone and how it gives me great pleasure in seeing such a wonderful, beautifully composed gallery.
I think your artwork featuring animals and the like is spectacular, and, simply put, beyond this world! <3 Drawing humans is somewhat similar to drawing piggies. You just gotta know where to place the shadows and the correct anatomy (I took anatomy & physiology last semester, so I'm still learning about proportions x3). That said, for the art trade, well, I would love for it if you could possibly draw me something similar to Kenai and Pocahontas? Better yet, Kenai/Pocahontas themselves. As a bear and as a human, pls.
Also, and I hate myself for spamming this
, but if you could do me the favor and watch this 2-minute+ video I created for the two of them [link] , well, I would appreciate it quite a lot. Nothing says criticism like a positive friend's feedback. <3

lol, don't feel too bad about it! It has been a while after all. Heck, it feels like an eternity since the old daa^3 days! Makes me feel old My eyes have always sucked; I think I have astigmatism, since I can't see anything up close or far away. It started out as just near-sightedness, but grew worse as I got older. Carrots are supposed to be good for the eyes, I've heard.
Thank you for the compliment! I've tried to dabble in as many different styles as possible! I have to say that your artwork has improved tremendously as well! I was shocked to see some of your Disney art, like Esmeralda and Kida, that I recently faved. Wow, you got reallllly good! With human-drawings, I know where the shadings go and I know about the anatomy, but I have trouble with the initial proportions. It takes me a while to get them right, but I do eventually. My animal drawings go a lot faster because I'm so used to drawing them that I feel extremely comfortable when sketching them.
I've got a sketch started of Pocahontas and Kenai. Shouldn't take me too long. Great video! Very nicely meshed together; it seemed like they were in the same movie! It was sad, but very nicely done. Good job!
As for my half of the trade...hmm...how about my OC, LaRoq: [link] standing back to back with Clopin (in his Court of Miracles outfit, not the Feast of Fools outfit). Maybe both can be wearing tiny smirks as they casually peer at each other. They both take great delight in pissing each other off, and can often get quite violent with each other, but there's still that tiny little bit of possible attraction there. Neither of them would EVER admit it. Not in a million years. But it's there.
I hope you can do that! I'd LOVE to see LaRoq drawn by you ^_^

I've heard that about carrots, too. Heck, why not eat all the vegetables while we're at it? Stock up for the rest of the year!
Have you seen an optometrist regarding the astigmatism? I'd sleep better at night knowing you're well.
You're welcome! Aw, Roach you flatterer. You're such a sweetheart, thank you so much.
Have you tried gesture drawing? I find that it helps me whenever I'm in a rough spot, and it may help you as well whenever drawing humans and the like. Try it out sometime!
You won't be disappointed.
Yay, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! I worked extensively on that video and haven't got around to finishing "part two" for some time now. Le sigh. Oh, thank you! I can't wait to see them in your style.
Sure, I can draw LaRoq back-to-back with Clopin for you. Did you want LaRoq drawn in any particular style? Like bearing a resemblance to Esmeralda or any other Disney character? (I usually get this type of request when drawing my half of the art trade
). She's such a lovely character though, I commented on her reference sheet a couple mins ago.

I've been eating carrots like candy my whole life and my eyesight still sucks XD In my opinion, people have bad eyes nowadays because when we're born, the first thing doctors do is stick the newborn baby under extremely bright lights. Think about it; the baby has been in a dark womb for 9 months (give or take) and instead of letting them adjust their new eyes to the world around them by gradually getting them accustomed to man-made light, they just shine these super-bright bulbs in our faces the moment we're born. I think that contributes to so many people having eyesight issues. It's just a theory, but it seems legit. I haven't been to an eye doctor since 2009, I don't have medical coverage nor do I have the money to get my eyes checked again. So, sadly, I won't be able to get that done anytime soon.
I just do reference-drawing. Look at a photo; draw it. I never use my own face or hands as a model. I should, but I don't. I'm stubborn
It really was a great video. I wish I could make videos, but my computer doesn't have the memory to download any program that's so sophisticated.
Awesome! If I had to say, I think LaRoq resembles Chel from "The Road to El Dorado" more then any other character. Not a Disney movie, but still. They are very similar in the shape of the face and body. Anytime I do an art-trade, I ask for my OC, either alone or with a canon character. I just love having my characters drawn by other artists I'm glad you like her! She is a fun character, I admit

You're right, and one would think that physicians would work for our well-being. Bullshit.
Pardon me for asking, but shouldn't you have that covered by your current employer/whom you're currently working for?
That makes two of us.
Thanks again.
All right, so then Chel. The two don't bear an uncanny resemblance around the eyes, nose, chin, figure, what-have-you? Just the facial shape and body then?

I work for the state of Oregon as a live-in Care Provider for those with Disabilities. We home-care workers don't get medical coverage for eye or dental work. At least not in Oregon. So, that sucks.
Hmm...he eyes would resemble those of Tzipporah from "The Prince of Egypt" except with longer lashes, her nose is similar to Belle's from "Beauty and the Beast" and her lips are rather large and pouty like Tiana from "The Princess and the Frog". Her figure and overall facial shape is definitely that of Chel, though (small boobs; round hips) and round face. lol, LaRoq is just a straight up Frankenstein character XD

I wish there was something I could do.
What's your prescription?
Aww, LaRoq is a very pretty character and I have a feeling that she'll end up looking like my latest deviation, if not sexier. I've yet to begin my part of the art trade; everytime I get on the computer, I suffer from reoccuring dizzy spells shortly afterwards. Yeah, it's about time I gave myself a break.
My phone doesn't do a good job in replying all messages simultaneously either.
It lags, shuts off, lags again, but eh, it gets the job done so I can't complain.

Meh, don't worry about it. I'll soon be able to get the best glasses money can buy if only I can get this female wolf I'm trying for. I breed wolf hybrids, you see, and my current breeding pair is going to be retired after their litter in spring 2013. I will be replacing them with their son, Phantom (I'm sure you saw his photo in my gallery) and HOPEFULLY this new female wolf who is a pure British Colombian black-phase. I'm taking commissions, trying to sell costumes and I even took out a loan to get this gorgeous gal. The pups I get between her and Phantom will add $10,000 per year to my annual financial situation, so I see it as a huge investment. Of course, I'm a very responsible breeder and I ONLY sell my pups do those who have experience with wolf hybrids. I still need at least another $500 to get her (I need to have her delivered). Altogether, it'll cost me just shy of $5000 to get her, but I know she'll be worth it. The breeder is working with me on this, so that helps. You wanna help me get commissions or sell my costumes, I'll appreciate that!
I'm glad you like LaRoq ^_^ She is a fun OC. I can't wait to see how you draw her I know she's gonna look awesome! Yes, please give yourself a break, no rush! I wouldn't wanna make you feel unwell. lol, I don't have a cell phone. With my temper, I don't think it would be a good idea

I will actually. You have a business number or any other form of contacting you should the clients become suspicious? Or maybe I'll just link them to your DeviantART. That should work.
Yes, LaRoq is going to look stellar once I'm done with her. How's your part of the trade?

Yeah, just link them to my DeviantArt. I have lots of happy customers here who just happen to be broke at the moment XD But I do have people here who have commissioned me before and they can vouch for me.
My half is still in the sketch phase. I was commissioned today and since I need as much money as possible as fast as possible, I started on that. My commissions always come first. Your half of the trade should be completed by the end of next week (the 19th).

I appreciate that I sometimes find it hard to believe that so many claim to be broke when kids nowadays have tremendous monthly allowances, Blackberry phones, Xboxes, iPads and other outrageously priced items. But I suppose no one 'needs' art. Hard to find a market for that stuff anymore!
Oh, dear...I don't vote. I'll vote when they get candidates I actually like.

It would be worth your time; Naruto is a great show. I stumbled upon it one day and was hooked after only 5 minutes. Unfortunately, I haven't had TV service since 2008, so I haven't seen the show in a while. From what I read though, it's still pretty kick-ass.

I haven't had TV since 2000 or so. And before I watch Naruto online or something, I need to figure out some way to download it directly into my brain--my friends have recommended so many anime and other TV shows that if I had to process it at 1:1 speed by optical input, I'd literally have to watch for 5 years straight, no sleep, no breaks. I'd much rather download it into my brain while I sleep, but I haven't got that system worked out yet...
