Description **For Use Within Only**

Name: Jengo

Meaning: Building

Age: (07/10/2020) - 13 Years

Height: 4'5"

Sexuality: Biromantic Bisexual

Rank: Historian / Elder

Personality:

+ Alert - He's always paying attention to his surroundings, mostly out of habit but, sometimes it almost seems like he's looking for someone.

+ Quiet- In general, he's a man of a few words. Has a tendency to keep to himself since the environment he grew up in basically came down to 'every leopard for himself'.  It helps to maintain an image of stealth especially when it came to survival.

+ Flirty- Although he doesn't have much to say, it doesn't mean he's got nothing to say when the situation feels right.

- Lethargic - His age is getting to him and as a result, doesn't have as much energy as he used to. He's content with going about more lax or peaceful activities in his spare time.

- Disconnected- Emotions have always been something he couldn't fully grasp into words. It's uncertain whether this was something he was born with or a product of his environment. Growing up outside of pride it was never something he was forced to think too deeply about on a social level.

- Territorial -  Old habits die hard. Don't touch his stuff.

History:

The start of Jengo's life was ordinary as most rouge leopards out on the stretch. His mother, Zola, had only him, lacking any siblings at all and for the norm, lacking a father as well. Males took no part in raising the cubs. It was, expected and accepted and so the youngster gave it no thought through the entirety of his childhood.

Food was scarce but, they managed to survive if not by the skin of their teeth as Zola noticed her son grow up rather quickly as he neared his teenage. Perhaps too quickly for he was already taller than her by nearly afoot.

Before Zola knew it, her son was nearly two, coming close to when he would have to leave and find his own home. It was an age, she herself had left, her grandparents, and even so forth. He would be ready and if not, he needed to be. What Jengo hadn't expected was that it came sooner than he thought. One day a rogue lion has strayed close to their territory during a hunt. He was massive, a brute but, what made him dangerous was his hunger.

During a hunt, the brute attacked the family, killing Zola despite willingly giving up their kill. Zola had been grievously injured and her son would have met a brutal end once the lion pinned Jengo by his neck but, after an intensely desperate plea, he was spared. Despite this, he was reluctant to flee, enraged and humiliated to be brought to their knees and to be expected to abandon his mother.

**"Dying today, it won't prove anything only that I failed to raise you. - Live another day."**

Were his mother's last words to him, after much reluctance, he fled. Looking back at his mother and his home for the last time.

Life was hard before but, now it was harder. Far less forgiveness for screwing up on hunts and even less for accidentally wander onto occupied territory. It eventually became easier as he started to grow into his new adult body, standing at a height of 4'5", not noteworthy for the like of a lion but, for a leopard, it was unheard of. It was both a blessing and curse, scaring off rival competition sometimes just by the sight of himself but, also creating an odd stiffness in his joints that lacked the true grace of a leopard.

In time he was able to settle and adapt, claiming a large baobab tree of his in the midst of a reserve. Life was predictable. He thought himself content as he was in a stable position, enjoying himself in the 'company' of passing felines, having enough food, enough water. It was the perfect life of rouge and he honestly knew no other until he a particular leopardess by the name of Lerato.

She was different from the others he'd met. For one thing, her pelt was as dark as night and the other, she was no 'rogue' born leopardess, rather a runaway from one of the tribes. She didn't have to say she was, it was clear from her mannerism, it was something that the rogues out on the stretch made fun of but, Lerato had a charm to her that was uniquely her own.

A visit that was only supposed to be a one time thing, turned into two, three until he stopped keeping count. In her company, time was the last thing on his mind.

He wasn't sure how to label their relationship, it was clearly beyond friends but, whatever it was, it was beyond his vocabulary. He put questions aside, not wanting to put whatever it was in danger just because of labels,  at least he tried. Lerato eventually found herself pregnant with his cub. He was uncertain of how to deal with the news, or how he was supposed to in the context of their relationship. It was an awkward time however, it didn't change his feelings toward the leopardess. Lerato grew distant and timid, jumpy at any mention of the new litter.

It formed a right between them but, he stayed near keeping watch, should they be ready for that talk.

It felt hopeless, as there was almost no communication by the end of her term. Just when he'd suspected something might have happened or that she left back to her tribe, he came across the leopardess only, she wasn't alone. A young cub waddled after her, so much like her mother only with a striking pair of crimson eyes, much like his own. It was a mind awakening moment. This was their cub, their child. No words could explain it but, a never before seen mildness seemed to take over him.

*Flash*

Within split seconds,  the heartwarming family was quickly ended. They were discovered, by a group of wandering hunters. In the panic and rush to escape, Jengo and Lerato were separated, leaving their daughter in Jengo's custody when Lerato couldn't be found. He stayed for days, searching for any sign of her, anything to hint she hadn't met her demise. No such promise,  reluctantly, he took his daughter and departed for safer lands. He quietly promised Ent, he would keep her safe, no matter what.

Two years passed in relative peace. Jengo had found a new territory to occupy, raising his daughter much as his own mother had. While not intensely affectionate, it was clear on some level he cared deeply for her well being. There was a sense of pride seeing her group up and. also a sense of sadness for each day she looked more and more of the mother she lost. On quiet nights, he'd find himself wondering what might have been.

From there, his life only turned to even more of a roller coaster.

When Ent reached 2 years of age, she was discovered by a group of humans. In coming to her defense and with the human's finding a fascination in his unusual height,  they were both taken and swiftly separated. With the uncertainty of his daughter's fate and being cooped up in nothing more than a cage, he grew both resentful and hopeless. There was little to no hope of someone of his stature to escape and he had no connections that could realize he was gone and help him escape. After two years, he eventually accepted his fate, eating and drinking little despite food now being plentiful. It was no life for a leopard, it was no life him.

Then suddenly, she was there. His daughter breaking into the lab with other felines he'd never seen before. He had nearly mistaken her at first for her mother, strikingly similar in so many ways. It relived him and yet broke his heart, so much time rotting behind a cage. He missed her growing up.

They fled that night, into the open fields making way for his daughter's new home, Haramu. The aging leopard was reluctant to join at first, wanting solitary over anything else however, Ent now had a family here. She was here, his grandchildren were here, his family was here and so he stayed. He took the rank of a historian, preferring a much less physically tolling role as his symptoms became more straining.

He remained content. for the rest of his time living there, watching life in more active observance. And yet there was more surprise left for him when a new visitor arrived in Haramu one faithful day.
