Description
Ruso and his mercenary army, the Winterguard. They started out as a band of highwaymen living in an abandoned inn. He murdered their leader and took over.That's his daughter Svala ordering the men to come back alive.

As ever I adore your textures and the level of detail you work into clothing and features and setting. So many of your drawings feel like redraws of screenshots from movies or photographs or something because of it.

She's six. It'd be summer at that point but the Winterguard have their furs on because it does provide a fair bit of protection (padding). Or maybe she's just tough as fuck. lol
I mean I could have had some of them go sleeveless if they're not wearing chainmail but it's just easier for me to draw a sleeve than fiddle around with arm anatomy. xD

Like caterpillar96 said, I'm wondering how Summer's seen by the mercenaries. To me, it seems like she's quite well respected and liked by the mercenaries, who are probably well accustomed to her since Ruso is always with her.Β
I like the different poses and hairstyles, etc. of the soldiers.Β

They like her better than they like Ruso lol. Which makes sense, considering she's a sweet little girl and Ruso's an ass. In some cases she was the only reason they didn't betray him.

Ruso's swooshy cape tho! The colours are nice, how do you find so many shades of grey-brown and still make them look good XD

Aha that's good to hear. I was actually fretting over the colours so much I considered making it greyscale multiple times, and I almost did too, except I'd spent so much time on the colours I couldn't bring myself to do it.
Well grey-brown is my only talent forte. Actually the way I do it is I edit and filter the picture once it's been completely coloured, and that gets rid of colour clashes and makes it all look good.

Haha yeah colours are a pain XD finding lots of shades that aren't too similar but making it look realistic... argh XD I think you did a really great job on this though ^_^ I often select coloured sections and edit them later too, the wonders of modern art technology

I really like those backview illustrations lately! dunno if it's on purpose or coincidence but it really feels powerful and alive! Less like a portrait pose!
Great perspective too! I kinda feel like the height of a child looking at the scenery!
A big thumb up too for the diversity of features! It's difficult to do background people to me, to think of different faces, clothes and everything! The work on textures looks beautiful! It must have been tiring to draw this many details!Β

actually it's because backview is easier to draw, since I don't have to worry about faces. I mean, yeah, it's totally on purpose.

Well most of the characters here are existing characters in my mind, and since I have to write about them, I already know what they look like. But yeah the details were a pain lol.
She's actually loved. That big bald guy (Old Red) is the evillest man in the Winterguard, and even he likes Summer. Though he isn't a big fan of Ruso.

Tbh you can pretty much discard most knowledge you had of Ruso (especially his early days) other than that he's cunning, he's ruthless, he's ambitious and shit poor.
