I have never seen anything quite like your creations. They conjure in my mind magical images of my favorite fantasy stories. You are an artist without equal.

its adorable
ha.
this is so awesome
might i ask how long it takes for you to fully bind a book, including putting what ever item you place on it?

It really does depend on the book! Most small ones like this take a few days to a week of intense work, especially if I'm dyeing paper as well. Bigger books can take months.

Gorgeous work - I love seeing bookbinders who actually sew the binding themselves! Nice work.

You mean there are book binders who don't? Isn't that the very point of bookbinding? Otherwise it is just.. covering and decorating, yes?

applegirl5 In reply to myceliae [2008-05-17 05:02:15 +0000 UTC]
Yes! Or they only sew one gathering into a "book." I think it's a shame because the actual binding is where so much of the skill/technique shows through. Nice work though.

This is amazing and beautiful. I'd buy it but I'm a minor and that would lead to awkward questions.

You know, we rely heavily on suggestions for featuring things, so maybe you should suggest one next time instead of just wait
I know I'd love to get more suggestions for Artisan Crafts DD
have a great day!

This is an absolutely amazing piece of craftsmanship. It inspires me to try my hand at binding. I also like that you seemed to have used a very soft, tooled leather. I can just imagine how that delicate little book would feel in your hands. So rich in texture. This would make a truly amazing and special gift. These would sell so well at a Craft Fair's. I myself would buy one for me, one for my best friend, and a couple for assorted family members.
I do believe I'll have to go take a look at your gallery, to see what other little treasures you've got hiding there.

I've no idea what i'd write in it, i'm a crappy writer... but i'd dearly love to know what the buyer has written in it! It's torture to send my little creations out into the world and not know what wonderous things get put inside
Thankyou

Oh my... this has to be at once the most adorable and amazing little book I've ever seen.
I've never seen a hand-crafted book this small, and it's just such a wonderful fantasy-like design. This is something that I'd treasure forever if I had!
Great work, and truly beautiful and fascinating design!

You may have already answered this question but how many signatures are there and how far apart is each sewn part within the signature?
Wow wow wow! Not an easy thing to do but it looks fantastic!

myceliae In reply to DarthMoll [2008-01-03 02:02:12 +0000 UTC]
I'm not sure how many signatures there were in this one, and I sold it not long after I finished it... so I can't go and check .
As to your other question, i'm not sure what you are asking exactly.
Sorry.

DarthMoll In reply to myceliae [2008-01-03 02:03:38 +0000 UTC]
Just each sewing station, how far apart they were. Of course, the term just barely came to me...heh. Still, that's cool.
