(I'd recommend you imagine H and W's laughs similar to Jeremy Brett and David Burke's in The Red-Headed League. Yes, you know of what I speak. If not... um, go watch the Granada Sherlock Holmes series. NOW.)

Haha... yeah... well, I just hope he won't ruin the part for the people who've never seen/read the real Holmes. Not to mention the whole thing that he's gonna have going on with Irene Adler. I mean, what?! Seriously.

Very true about the Irene Adler thing. I'm really hoping they don't take that down the obvious path. Adler is at her most awesome when she's portrayed as "the one who got away."

A long-haired, stubbly, poorly-dressed, shorter-than-Watson Holmes? And one that might (but hopefully won't) have a love interest? And one whose nose and face, not to mention the body, are pretty much the exact opposite to what Sir Doyle described?

I have no problem with a person taking a character and using them in fanfiction, as long as they remain IC. But if you're going to make a movie, either do the original perfectly or something new that seems close to the original. I'd rather a person use their own characters if they're going to make them entirely different.......
