Description
Name: The DreamDwellerType: Eldritch Creature/Entity
Gender: Unknown
Location: Somnium
Description: On the other side of the Cosmic Void lies another Dimension dubbed Somnium and it is here that we find the DreamDweller.
Not much is known about this creature except it’s behavior and part of its appearance. It is said that the creature was born from the byproduct of the Mating Age (the Union period of the Cosmic Children for the purpose of reproduction) but others claim it is forged from the bond of the First Dream and the First Nightmare, none are truly sure.
DreamDweller does not affiliate itself with the Arcanic Ones nor the Amaranthine Gods; it is mostly a solitary creature. The body of the creature appears mostly shrouded with a cloud like appearance; some say that the clouds ARE the creature, others think not. None are truly sure. Long, darkened tendril like arms materialize from the cloudy figure and are used for various tasks it needs; mostly used for consumption. What does DreamDweller eat? Dreams and nightmares.
When Man sleeps, he goes into Somnium and it is here that Man has his dreams, whichever they may be but when DreamDweller hungers, a tendril shall latch onto the victim and consume the consciousness of the spirit. If the victim is unlucky, he shall die in his sleep with a rotten shell of a brain embedded in his skull and DreamDweller will have been pleased with its fresh meal. If the victim is lucky, and can jolt themselves awake, Man can escape DreamDweller without injury but side effects would ensue such as fatigue, hallucinations, tiredness, and more; only worsening until you have no choice but to succumb to its eternal hunger.
The idea of this creature, ironically, came to me in a dream, except I was able to see DreamDweller’s true form without cloud cover, but I decided that keeping that foggy blanket around it would keep its presence uneasy and nerve-racking. I decided with going with a digital ink/pen style for this creature and a dark color/grayscale because of how ominous I wanted it to be; even I get uneasy not truly knowing what it looks like and all you get are massive tentacles from the sky.
