Description
Finally. I'm just calling this done because I think I can't work on it anymore or I'll chuck my flatpanel screen out the window.I have to say, this is probably the most personal work for me yet - it describes a lot about who I am and where I'm at in this stage of my life. Thank you so very much to Luke, (=Lucanos ) darling, for critiquing my work so much and helping me see past the end of my nose.
Thanks are also in order to =AttempteStock for providing her beautiful bumbershoot stock photo.
All completely hand-painted except for the texture on her dress. I made some patterns and brushes to complete this, and checked out multiple images on sxh for the dog. The lantern and background are completely of my own creation, popped somewhere out of my strange head.
Detail shots are here . Detail of the bird is also here .

That is simply astonishing.
Lots of work here.
It looks so natural and so intimate that I feel like peeking at it instead of simply looking at it.
Really beautiful

This is beautiful and for some reason it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland.

I love this! It reminds me of a few paintings we have at home... i can't think of a better way to describe it lol, because i don't know if many people have those ones of a boy crying, those sorts of pics...
Anyways, only one thing i don't like is that her skin from the face down has a very blue tinge to it, i'm not sure if it's just my screen or you were trying to make her bule dress reflect on her skin because of the light, but i don't like it. It makes her look like she's wearing stockings over her arms/chest/neck area

I really like this one, it has the feel of a surreal [arent't they all?] nightmare.

aww, you did it! and it looks great
I love especially your lighting, it looks pretty realistic
I have a few crits though, if you don't mind first, my biggest one is the background. behind the trees is just too much blank space, some rough indications of further trees would be nice, likewise you could add some small branches in the forground to the left, to add further depth.
the water reminds me a bit of curtains, but honestly that doesn't bother me too much, I think it rather adds more interest to the whole piece. but some foam of some sort would be nice, the eye kinda expects that when you see how busy the water is.
on her chest and arm there are some spots which look rather greyish, that confuses me...a low saturation might be good there, but this looks a bit extreme. perhaps add some blue/purple there?
last but not least....I think you could try to bring out the umbrella more. I am not sure if someone who just takes a quick look at your image would actually see it. maybe some secondary light would help with that.
but that's it really, otherwise I like this piece a lot, your work on all those folds, her look, the bird, the lantern and water....well done Grace!

well done gracie.
the water i have to mention is amazing. capturing the movement the way you have is remarkable.
i struggle to convey direction in my drawings so for me to see movement and direction so well done is very impressive.

Hah, thanks sweetheart! I don't think I'll get a prints account, I had one on the old account and never sold a thing But I'll be printing this one (it's why I worked so big) so I can sell them myself.
My friends and colleagues tend to buy my work more than the random stranger
