Description
This painting was requested by =Nesi , who wanted something visual inspired from his poem, In This Silence . His visual interpretation of this (what he asked of me) is slightly different from the finished product. Unfortunately, since the paint is still extremely wet, I'm having a hard time photographing it without some sort of glare. In a week or so I should be able to capture it much better, and then I'll offer it as a print if you so desire, Nesi. All of the imagery has specific metophorical meaning, as well as a certain connection to the poem itself. The only real divergence is the dying trees, instead of the decaying roses. For me, this seemed to suit a more interesting visual composition.
As the paint is still drying, I'm sure I'll make changes and refine a lot of the image, so constructive critiques are more than welcome.
Oil Paint on Canvas, 24 x 36 inches.
UPDATE: Much better digital photo taken... though there still is a bit of glare at the top, it's much more true to life. I'll take a few more in a week or so and see if I can't get a better shot.
UPDATE 2: Thank you to ssecret and spinegrinder for the DD. I wish I had taken a better photograph of this now, but it's already been sold. Thanks to everyone for their love and support.

I love the perspective and the colors, and the detail is amazing.
On another note I'm having a bit of a deja-vu, because I precisely remember dreaming something with a scene exactly like this when I was eight.

Haha, glad to hear this resonates with you. It's based on a poem by =Nesi but I've had really weird dreams like this too

I just love it.
It's not obvious to translate a poem into a picture, specially if it is not your poem.
I've read the poem and think that it is a good illustration, colors well choosen and textures well done.

I'm not too sure about the colours. Something doesn't strike me right with them. Are those clouds under the floating chess board?
I do like, however, how the bubbles are see-through and the people are silhouetted inside them. Adds a nice mystery. Congrats on the DD, Grace

s'alright, you don't have to like the colors They're meant to be strange and disturbing... and yeah, clouds.
Thanks, the bubbles were fun
