A memorial commission for the client's beautiful dog, Ruby.
This is the first dog I've ever drawn, and I was seriously stressing about attempting the short smooth fur. But I am SO pleased with the end result! Once I started it wasn't nearly as difficult as I was expecting it to be in my head. Before beginning I studied some drawings of dogs with short fur
(most notably by =sschukina )
which gave me a jumping off point on how to render the fur. But the client absolutely adored it, which is always a bonus! I love to make people happy with art.
