I do believe that a trillium can look rather plain. I always question putting up a photo of mine. Strange thing. But I'm that way with a lot of lower photos I do.

i love them though and i have a romanic idea of them romping in the garden with dutchman's breeches, which i've interspersed with my trillium in my spring woodland garden (my back yard).
