I would leave them whole but so many people do such excellent flower shots, I feel I need to do something a bit different ... so I often crop.

me too. otherwise, it's kinda just a flower. it's the framing that personalizes it.

I agree. I love your polas of them because you almost have to be farther away...but the pola gives them a unique look.
