Description I do own a Harley but this is not it. Saw this one on the street and I loved the seat shining in the afternoon sun. It's an old model, maybe a 1930 model DL. Don't know them well enough to know for sure.

yay for harleys! They're huge in my town (milwaukee) so I know all about them. I got to be in the big parade last year for the 100th year anniversary

ooo! I love the angle and crop of this shot! And also the rust colors and blacks. Very nice. My uncle builds motorcycles from scrap, he has a passion for this sort of thing. What are you doing with a harley? heh.

I don't drive one.. harley, that is. But I do ride on the back and have done really a lot of that! I look great in all those leathers. ;D

My husband and I have two Harleys. It's fun. I know people like your uncle.. some of my best friends do that sort of thing.

It is a 60's or 70's vintage shovel head. My hubby is a harley buff. He has built many from the groung up. His first was a sportster that was only partly there when he bought it, and it was in peices in two milk crates It reminds me of a friend from long ago her bike looked much like this one, rode hard and never put away. I have not ridden in years. We live in central Alaska and you only have 3 or 4 months of decent riding weather. When we lived in areas w/ better riding weather we had several harleys over the years and I am the worst passinger so hubby bought me a rice burner a kawasaki 450ltd (or something like it) I would not get his bike out of 2nd gear when he was trying to teach me I was not about to do anything to hurt his harley
Ride safe beware of shitheads in cages (cars) who do not pay attention to other cars let alone bikers. btw Ialmost forgot to tell you what a nice pic this is!

Thanks for the info on the bike. I'll have to have another look. We have two Harleys and they are both wonderful, been on lots of rides and we ALWAYS watch out for stupid drivers... dumb blind car drivers!

You have just turned up the notch in one of the most interesting people here on dev art for me... lol I hope I worded that right. I wish I wasn't such a scaredy cat when it comes to being a driver on a bike motorized or not... When I was younger I was doing tricks on my bmx and I was going Very fast. My foot got stuck in the wheel and I slid on concrete, face first, under a car. If it weren't for my braces I would have lost all my teeth. BLAHHH So since then I am a BIT scared of riding them I don't mind being taken for bike rides though, not at all.

LOL! I totally understand! I do not drive one any more either. So you don't have to rachet too much. But I do own one and I ride on the back. I love it but know that caution is very much in order. Had an accident that could have been a really ugly scene if we'd actually gone down. But we got jammed between two cars and stayed upright and out of the next lane where I'd have been run over no doubt! I've been far far more careful about where I ride and things like that.

LA is not the place to ride at all and there is nothing like being on a motorcycle trip with all your leathers on, feeling the wind and smelling all the scents along the way.

LOL, I drive the jeep with the top down... all those wind and smell stuff with four wheels! LoL

mmm, nice bike. I love the sun's reflection on it, bringing out some colors, not others...

Harley Gal eh? whats your ride? HD's are the only bike I'd ever get, I've much love for them.

My husband and I have two. One is a 1988 FXR and the other is a newer Heritage. The one is totally a 'boulevard cruiser' as we call them... all sleek and painted with flames. That is his bike. Mine, though I do not drive it, is the larger more comfy ride.

I've been on a lot of trips, none cross country yet, but I'd like to.

ah, much awesomness then. Not yet as soon as I get myself a bike I plan on doing the Easy Rider trail (My Dad has the Fonda helmet, and he'll pass on the torch of the lifestyle), and then roll to Sturgis, and from there?... but all thats a few years away I think.

but ah, it sounds like you have travelled muchly in your days?

Be sure to 'practice' a lot on your bike. Skill is the secret to being safe on a bike. Crazy drivers don't notice people on bikes as much as they should! but it's really fun and I've travelled mostly in California.

Yes, you just have to prepare yourself for quick action and reaction. Learning how to drive defensively is the secret. I really think that's why hard core bikers have such attitude. You have to be "big" and agressive in a way.
