...Yeah, I have an explanation for this. I've always been strictly a Lina/Gourry fan ever since I've been exposed to Slayers, and I didn't care about the other pairings. I didn't mind Zelgadis and Amelia together, though it didn't hold my interest like Lina and Gourry, and I was mildly entertained by Xellos and Filia for a while when I saw Slayers Try. But about eight years later after my first exposure (and months after seeing the new seasons), I get this rather realistic (in terms of the anime) dream out of nowhere of Xellos targeting Amelia for some secret scheme of his. It involved some seduction, and Amelia was in love with Zelgadis in it, but the whole chemistry in the dream got me thinking 'why not?'.

Oh yeah, the whole idea of Xellos being in love with anyone is actually OOC for him since Mazoku can't love (or something along the lines), but that never stopped fans from imagining it. I've seen him paired with Lina, Zelgadis, and Filia, but never Gourry or Amelia- at least nothing serious. The precious few fanfictions I have found on Xel/Amelia were either crack stories or something that was outrageously OOC for all of the characters (not just Xellos). I can see how the pairing wouldn't work, but I can also see how it could have a chance.

Amelia may be a warrior of justice, but she's accepted Xellos despite what he is. And I can't help but notice a few anime moments where Amelia proves that she can be swayed away from her beliefs- she once even prayed to Shabranigdo when Saillune was in danger of destruction. Now I'm not saying that she has the capacity to turn evil, but that she has the ability to forgive and turn a blind eye to some things that go against her teachings. As for Xellos... well, even in a fan's mind, I can't see him romantic at all. Anything that might happen between them would be dark smexyness. Not good for the romance loving Amelia, but then Xellos could take advantage of her naivete and have her confuse his attentions as something like genuine love (by the way, that's a wrong thing to do in a real life setting- just FYI).

Also, while Filia may be the only one to make Xellos angry, Amelia was the only one to make him weak- she, and possibly Gourry, are the only characters with a real fighting chance against him- outside of a battle to the death of course. Only Lina has the chance to actually kill him.

So, in conclusion, I'm Myst-the-Wicked and I have an addiction to crack pairings.

Anyway, I could have made a nice background, but I found the gradient between dark and light rather fitting for the theme. Also, I intentionally made the light source come from the dark side so that Xellos' face would be cast in the shadows and his shadow would be overcast on Amelia.
