Recently, one of my good friends, Sword-Dance , made a post detailing the improvement in their art in the last 10 years (Here's a link ). It was a good read, and it got me thinking about my own improvement in that same amount of time, so I went back into my gallery to see what kind of things I drew a decade ago. When I happened to find one that was uploaded on a day of the year that was pretty close to the actual date, I thought it would be a fun celebration to redraw that picture, upload it *exactly* 10 years after the upload date of the original, and see the difference. Today is that special day! This very day, 10 years ago, I finished and uploaded the very first image I made using digital media that I was actually really proud of (at the time).

I took the image and completely repainted it the way I would do it now, without changing the premise or main color of the original. There are many differences, and although I know some of you probably enjoyed the dark night scene a little better when it comes to simplicity and tone, I'm still quite happy with how this one turned out. I think the biggest differences, to me, are that I am now able to create finished work using only digital media, am no longer dependent on the line art layer to create finished-looking work, and am also no longer afraid to work on a single layer and make big, irreversible changes to the piece halfway through. I can now create enticing compositions, fill the canvas in a more exciting way, and can actually use multiple colors harmoniously, instead of using only one hue of color with varying degrees of multiply- and lighten layers on top of that.
