"Moonlit Dawn's Gaia" - contest entry.

My contest entry to 's contest
for her awesome comic "Moonlit Dawn".

This character is Gaia, goddess of earth.
I chose her because she was the most dramatic looking
and i figured she'd be alot of fun to draw.
Her tails are made up of (in order from left to right)
Water, Fire, Wind, and Earth (what looks like willow leaves and branches).
And yes she has leaves growing atop her head.

I was going for a more early-Earth type look, when i pictured Gaia would be more active, making life.
Taking ques from how rocks at the grand canyon and desert look in my head, only made up of molten black rock
with the lava and and super clear starry sky.

But then i found out that at this time period there was
so much gas and ash and junk in our atmosphere
back then that you couldnt see the the stars from all the
cloudyness D: -fail- lol
Oh well though, i continued since its fanart for
a fantasy comic anyway. Fantasy can break logic. XD

Ugh. Dont even ask how long the BG took...
All i know is much of the ground, except for a few nearer parts and the lava, was done while on Skype with from 3pm to like 7 or 8 pm. X.x
The rest i have no idea....
I had alot of fun though and i think it turned out pretty good. Im satisfied, the sky was the biggest hassle and is
probably the weaker point of this drawing, but i did it to the best of my abilities as they are now.
The ground/rocks and lava turned out way better than i expected. I had so much fun!

NOTHING was reffed except the star cluster. o.o (reffed from random pics on google)
I drew Gaia mostly from memory (shes not very complicated), sorry if the tails are out of order or something though. XD

The night sky is hard for me XD damn stars.

Done with Prismacolor Colored Pencils.
