Description "Secrets of Northern Spirits"

My next art submission for the 3rd charity Wolf Anthology book. The theme was Winter Wolves and could be holiday or winter related.
Prayers that I get picked again this year!!

I wanted to portray "winter" and "wolves" at their best together.

I did so many new things with this... First Aurora Borealis, first glaciers, first night scene in a very long time, the stars, playing with light to such an extent,
first time dividing so many objects in a single color spectrum with all this blue and keeping everything from blending together. Lol.
I am quite happy with how all this experimenting turned out!

First layer done in graphite 0.5 mechanical pencil, then highlights lifted with my kneaded eraser, then colored over with Prismacolor colored pencils.
Stars were added last with white gel pen.Β
Bristol Board Paper 9 x 12in.

I wanted to comment more, but I was in such awe with how beautifully done this image is!
I'm especially loving the way you blend colors, they look so natural and just absoutly gorgeous! Same goes for that fur detail, and the beautiful background detail. Over all, this image is just above and beyond incredible.

Very awesome! The colors fit together perfectly and the fur came out very detailed!
Only thing is the rigth hind leg of the wolf in the front. I know the pose you drew but the leg looks a lillte bit like it wouldn't exist O.o

This is really really awesome! Makes me super happy because you know how much I love Arctic wolves
Want to get me the Prismacolor pencils as well when I have money to afford them (at the moment a lot of money will go into the Canada vacation I will attend in 2 months....yes, Canada, you read that right Been saving up for it since like 2 1/2 years) Because I hear a lot of fellow artists talking positively about those pencils and I already use (and love) the Polychromos and Derwent ones which were also recommendations from other artists I know.....so why not extend my pencil collection?

Where can you buy this Wolf Anthology book, is it available on amazon or something?

Haha thank you!
I read about you going on a trip in your journals. Congratulations! I hope you see some wolves and other wildlife. I hear there is lots of wolves up there!
Yes the artist pencils are expensive, but after you get past buying your first set, its easier to keep up with replacing individual pencils.
I got lucky and was given my set by a very kind friend here on Deviantart.
Everyone keeps telling me Polychromos are better than Prismacolor, both in application and how they break much less often. But I can't verify that myself.
And Polychromos are out of reach for me by being even more expensive than the Prismas.

Yes the book will be available on Amazon.
You can look at the first two now if you are curious:Β www.amazon.com/Wolf-Warriors-W…
I was already published in the second one if you remember with my drawing "Celebration".

Yes I heard that too, and wolves are even mentioned in the info material I got sent from the travel agency, along with bears, whales, moose, lynxes, pumas, elk and so on....so I think itΒ΄s going to be amazing! And I also hope to see wild silver foxes or even cross foxes, because I NEVER saw a live cross fox in person (only know them through pictures) and I badly want to! And as far as IΒ΄ve gathered my info from the web (mostly wildlife watching and photography sites) they can be seen in BC and Alberta which is where I go...

Well I havenΒ΄t drawn with Prismacolor yet so I canΒ΄t compare.....but I do draw with Derwent Drawing pencils and from my experience I can say they are really soft and rich in color, almost like pastels! though the disadavantage is that they tend to break in the sharpener so you gotta handle them with care..

Yeah, I certainly remember!
I just followed the Amazon link and....DAVID CLEMENT-DAVIES??? Holy fucking shit!!!
I love this guy so I definitely put the book on my wishlist to buy it when I have the money....

You know I have never even seen a wild fox before. They aren't as common as they used to be in Ohio.

Teheehee! Yes the first volume featured David.
Haha I should have known you'd flip haha!
The second didn't feature anyone 'famous' so to speak that I know of, but did still have many talented artists and writers.

Oh, thatΒ΄s a pity.....Hope that will change one day

Oh yes I did freak out with excitement
And itΒ΄s even an excerpt from Fell!
I think IΒ΄d want both of the books because I love wolf art & literature to death
