Description
I'm not hosting this tutorial on DA, but want to invite anyone who has an interest in sculpting fantasy creatures with polymer clay to visit the tutorial. [link] I am still working on it, so you can be there to watch it come to life. This is a VERY indepth tutorial with tons of images to go along with detailed instructions, techniques, hints and tips along the way to help even the budding sculptors out there.NOTE: The photo going along with this tutorial is not the dragon bust I am working on in the tutorial.
Update: I got the tutorial back to where it was, in fact the whole forum is back again including comments and everything, plus I've added some new bits to the whole deal. Unfortunately if you registered after the crash, that part is gone, but on the upside, if you registered before the crash your user name and password are back and usualbe again. As I have learned my lesson, I have dutifully backed up the whole forum so it won't be lost again.

Had your tutorial bookmarked and referenced it frequently. It was well done and very helpful. Unfortunately, the Mysticalis.com site is now deceased. Can you please put a copy of it up on DA now?

I have a question regarding the baking of polymer clay, (I've looked everywhere for suggestions/instructions, but to no avail).
Can polymere (sculpey) clay be baked in phases?
(Bake a part of a sculpt then add more to it, and then bake again, with the newly added clay to it?).
Thanks for any suggestions you may offer...
I really appreciate it.

I remember reading this tutorial years ago and being amazed by watching you at work. But when I finally found it again, I noticed that all the images were removed. Was this done on purpose, or accidentally, do you know?

Are there supposed to be images with the tutorial? None are showing up, and it sounds like a great tutorial to see.

Air dry clay, apoxie clay that dries via a chemichal reaction or a heat gun.

This is awesome, its helping me sooooooooo much.
I want to make my drawn art come to live using clay
My critters are more wolves and cats though.

Thanks Wendy. I appreciate you asking questions in the forum too! I know I have probably failed to explain a few things I just take for granted, but everytime someone asks a question it helps to answer it for everyone. I should be able to get back onto it tomorrow.
After this one is done, I'm going to be taking a break (sort of) and will be changing rooms with my son so I will have a bit more space. Getting everything changed around though will be a hell of a mess. It will probably take a week or better to get back to sculpting. I'm going to be really doing up his room before I move him into it. Painting, murals, building a head board for his bed, and just really going hog wild getting his room more grown up. He's 10 and has outgrown the childish decor. Should be lots of fun though, we are going with a tropical/exotic feel, so I may do some fun jungle like leaves on his walls, animal prints (tiger/zebra/lepard), and his ceiling will be sky blue with clouds across it. A slight break from my normal creative outlets, but in the end I'll have more room to move in my studio. Have to finish the tut first though!

Sounds like fun. I remember when I did that for my sons in their room....I painted a motocross mural for my one son and made a space all his own in the closet...I know that sounds weird but it was pretty awesome I would have loved that when I was a kid. I used to hang out in my closet when I was a kid...I guess thats pretty weird now that I think about it lol....I have always loved tightly cramped little cubby spaces
Take some pictures when you are done. I would love to see what you do to the room....DON'T FORGET THE BEFORE PICTURES! You will be glad you did that when it is all completed. I forgot to do the before shots on all the work I did in our home....

Oh sounds like fun! I did a lot when my daughter was young, but never had the time or inclination to do much in the way of murals since Caleb came along. My daughter is 23, my son is 10. I was pretty out of it too from the time he was 2 till he reached about 7. Complete basketcase. Now that I am back on my feet, I'm ready to make up for that lost time in this room. I kind of suggested a theme, and he ran with it so he has been picking out furnishings. I'm having to do it on a tight budget, but I think I can get it done nicely for what I have to work with. Murals can really add a lot to a room. Gawd, I hate to even think about taking before photos, this room is pure crap right now. Clay is hermetically sealed to the floor, and it hasn't been painted in eons. I'll do it though, but it depends on how they look as to whether anyone will see them or not! There is also a lot of water stains from hurricane Isabel that came through here a few years ago. It rained so hard, and the wind was so intense, that water was coming in AROUND the window frames, not the windows themselves. We had 100+ mph winds for 15 hours straight. Scared me more than I have ever been scared in my life, and it really took a toll on this old house. The walls bent so much from the wind it cracked the plaster. There is a lot to do before this gts to be the place I envision for him!
