3 reasons: It's loosely based on the Kymellians from the Power Pack comics which they had 3 fingers, It's easier to draw and I like Ninja Turtles.

Also that they often only have 3 or 4 fingers. I find that rather disturbing, as well.

I just don't like the whole half human half pony thing. I find it at the brink of creepy, when they have pony heads and hooves(Instead of feet.) and arms and hands.
Also, when they have horns and wings.... I really don't like it. :/
