Yeah, I finally managed to get a hold of Trigun. A very interesting anime. There were definitely some things that I didn't approve of; I have a very PG mind, and some PG-13 things I just can't stand (namely, girls getting taken advantage of, two characters spending too much "quality time" together at night, and a certain broom-head's "Don Juan" antics). But, the plot was interesting and there were good twists, so it was worth my time. I'm rewatching it again with a roommate, and I'm actually finding that I'm enjoying it much more a second time, now that we know what to skip.

In any case, I got a fanart idea for the series, and it wouldn't leave me alone until I drew it. You know, a little dedication to the series with the most shoulder pads in anime. Obviously, the pic features Vash the Stampede and Derringer Meryl Strife. They happen to be my favorite characters in the series. Meryl mainly, because at no point in time did I want to beat her on the head unlike most the other characters. That, and she’s pretty cool. I wish she could have had more moments to shine, but the series is only so long. Vash I finally got to liking after he stopped acting like a lecherous jerk. Episode five, where he gets his first real “cool” moment, was where I started thinking that the character had potential. By the end of the series, he was a pretty good guy. And what can I say? He’s another happy-go-lucky geek in glasses. That’ll always cinch a spot on my favorites list, even if the glasses are the strangest/dorkiest/funniest things ever invented for eyewear.

The pic is done in a kind of mix between the Trigun artstyle and my own. I was going for just Trigun art, but mine always manages to slip in. Gotta work on that.
Vash now holds my award for “Best Hair I Ever Shaded”. I got a little more dynamic than just the usual.
Vash has so many different personalities it seems like. I drew my favorite: happy/friendly Vash. Serious Vash can be cool, and Silly Vash can be funny (and Don Juan Vash annoying), but I still like his cheerful side best.
By the way, WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THOSE BELTS?!? Vash could put Yami Yugi, Seto Kaiba, and the entire cast of Kindom Hearts to shame!! This guy has by far the most detailed outfit I’ve fandrawn yet. I’m pretty sure some details are off though, because none of the reference pics I was using could completely coordinate. I know I missed a few details on his gun (like say, a TRIGGER?) and his hair seems . . . poofier or something, but what’s done is done. The outfit was hard to draw, but when I was finished, it was actually kinda fun. Huh. The leather was especially interesting to shade. I was most worried about shading the red coat, given all the odd folds, but it didn’t pose as much of a problem as I thought. But man . . . this guy has the longest, lankiest limbs (ooo, alliteraion!). . . heh, I'm tempted to do a pic comparing him with the other blonde, mechanical-armed, red-coat-wearing person I've been drawing. Ed would hate Vash immediatly just because of his towering height.
And I want Meryl’s outfit.

Let’s hear it for 15 minute backgrounds!! I’ve really been having too much fun with Burn and Dodge tool lately. I wonder if I’m addicted.

And I’ve really grown on those geeky glasses. *steals*
