Description THIS IMAGE IS A MAJOR SPOILER IN THE MANGA!!!

Originally this was going to scraps, but since I'm not planning on outlining or coloring it, and my sister insisted, it's going in the gallery.

No, I don't really read the Trigun manga. I took a look at what was scanslated online (which was the last 20 chapters or so) and nearly had to poke my eyes out. I have a very G-PG mind, and the Maximum manga makes NC-17 rating, if not more. Thank goodness for quick eye scanning, a poor memory, and very badly laid-out art (I'm sorry, Trigun manga fans...but that's not a very well-drawn/organized manga...I can hardly tell what the heck is going on).

That being said, the last few chapters actally caught my eye, especially the recently translated second-to-last chapter. I'm now waiting with severe impatience while the translators "take their time with the last chapter to insure perfection". I DON'T CARE IF IT'S IMPERFECT; I WANNA KNOW WHAT THE HECK HAPPENS!!
Basically, in the manga, Vash and Knives face off in a final confrontation. Both have nearly used up all their plant powers, as indicated by the barest of blonde streaks left in their hair. To make a long story short, a third party attacks, Vash pulls his usual self-sacrificing stunts to save an enemy, and uses the last of his power to sprout wings and carry his now confused twin to safety. This causes the last of his hair to blacken (which usually indicates a dead plant...uh oh...), and the two fall like a rock. One of Vash's wings even deteiorates. In an attempt to help (or something), Knives grabs hold of his brother and sprouts a wing himself to help balance out. Such is the bond of family; one second they're trying to kill each other (at least Knives was), and now they're risking everything to save each other. And now I'm waiting in anxiety, because this is a really powerful scene and yet I'll never forgive this manga-ka if he kills off Vash...
Anyways, this scene really stuck in my head; the one were Vash is carrying his bro. So much so, that I ended up sketching this in class (maybe later I'll draw the scene where Knives supports Vash with his own wing). YES, THERE ARE DETAILS OFF. First off, it's more in my own art style and less Trigun-y, because I didn't have any Trigun art to look off of. Also, Vash is wearing his anime outfit, as I have no clue how to draw that mess that he wears in the manga (which probably sets the record for "Most Belts on a Costume"...the thing has dozens).
I digitally brushed something of a background on it too, since it needed a little more. The art's title got stuck in as well, since that big glaring blank space was annoying me. The top of Vash's wing got cropped, since it was wedged amonst the binding coils of my sketchpad. Oh well.

And I don't draw naked people. Knives has pants, thank you very much, even if they are in tatters (and that's true to the manga). And it's not very clear in the sketch, but Vash's mechanical arm is kinda...nonexistant. It got ripped off in an earlier fight. I had actually drawn him with the arm, then realized that he didn't have it in this scene and erased t.

Trigun is copywrited to Yasuhiro Nightow and whoever else holds the anime/manga production rights.

This is a powerful moment in the story. *nods in agreement*

I found it worth my time to thread the manga maze just to see the better Vash. No flirting, almost no drinking, and such a heart for the people of the planet... I liked anime-Vash fairly well. I *really* like manga-Vash.

I'm sorry the excessive language and violence (and peeks into the minds of the villains -- eww!) ruined it for you. It really does have some very good moments, like this one... and the moment in the final chapter when he lands right on the head of the guy with the loudspeaker. *snicker*

Anyway, thank you for making this picture.

...I thought the Manga was completely finished...so basically, their fight is killing them? Stuipd knives. At least he helped save Vash...NC-17, though, huh? *sigh* I wish they woudln't do that. I'm a pg person mostly myself.

Yeah, the manga's finished, but the translators that I watch still have the last chapter to do. Sigh.
It wasn't necessarily the fight that was killing them. Vash had used most of his powers to create bullets so he COULD fight on his bro's level, and Knives lost most of his power trying to rebuld his body after the Ark was broken up (the Ark being a...thing made up of thousands of plants, with Knives controlling them all). So by the time Vash and Knives had their final showdown, Knives had hardly any power left and Vash had used most of his special bullets. Made things interesting.
Argh, I find it incredibly annoying when people ruin a potentially interesting story by making it so gosh darn graphic. I'm not sure if the orignal manga was like that (from what I flipped through quickly in the bookstore, it was actually better drawn and better laid-out in the beginnin), but Trigun Maximum was picked up by an "adult" manga magazine, which never means anything good. Sad.

Ah, I see. So it WAS finished, but then it got restarted by someone who probably shouldn't have restarted it. That makes sense.

It was the same manga-ka, just under a different company who wanted different stuff. I wish the first publisher didn't dump the story; then maybe it would have gone differently.

*nods* Yeah, I was thinking the same thing myself.

That's, um...wow. Very well done. There's a lot of emotion in there. Dang, those wings are cool. Just love how you drew Vash (especially the wings and his expression). Lol, Knives looks like he's still catching up on the last few pages of events. Lol, for some reason, I really like how you drew his feet.

Knives' right arm is a little wierd. He needs more of a wrist; his fingers as just kinda sprouting from the arm like a bizzaro crab. That's the only problem that really stands out to me. Very nice.

Yeah, I realized the wrist thing after I scanned it. I can't exactly fix a sketch problem as easily as I can an inking problem though. Oh well.
Oh good, I was hoping the emotion of the moment would be caught. Vash putting all his effort into the stunt and Knives being all "Wait, what the heck??". But that really was a meaningful scene. Wish I could say the same of the rest of the manga...
I'm not sure how true to the manga detail the wings are; all I could remember was that they had this little fancy curve to them at the top. But I like how these wings came out.
Lol, I like his feet two. The postion of his left leg kinda bugged me, but I liked the foot too much to erase it and try again.
