Very simple method. Unfortunately, eye colors aren't exactly smudgy. Correctly-colored eyes have sharp contrasts of clear, gradient-shaded colors, and although you progress from light to dark, the achieved effect can more easily be done with a Gradient-drawing tool and the pen tool (with magic or loop selection, of course)
