Description

Sol is host to the SHADE (Stellar Harvesting And Defensive Emplacement) array, a network of statites in the shape of multiple Goldberg Polyhedra.

The SHADE project aimed to accomplish the resurrective goals of classical Russian Cosmism within a transhumanist context by creating a Matryoshka Brain (Inner radius at solar photosphere, Outer radius as constrained by cosmic background radiation). The purpose of this structure was to serve as a limited scale Laplacian Demon, taking the current state of the inner planets and simulating backwards to recreate the mind of every being as it was at the point of death. (This involved the use of CTC computing to reduce the time requirement.) In doing so, the ''souls'' (connectomes) of the dead would be uploaded and, following socialization procedures, given a permanent place among other postorganic beings.

Following the successful completion of the SHADE project's goals, computational resources were reallocated to find an escape from the end of the universe and to provide additional quality of life for its postorganic citizens. Current lines of research include the recursive creation of basement universes or continued use of CTC computing to perform infinite calculations in finite time, the transfer of information through the bulk to another Brane via gravity, the creation of a Turing-complete cellular automaton using spacetime as a substrate (Cell volume limited by the Plank length), and the intentional creation of a vacuum decay event in order to perform calculations in the expanding bubble wall.

In order to obtain the entropic state of the inner planets, and to obtain raw materials, they were disassembled by swarms of advanced nanomachines, and the position, momentum, etc of each particle was recorded as accurately as possible. The outer Solar System was also disassembled in order to create more layers to the Matryoshka Brain.

Components:

The SHADE array consists of several trillion self-replicating nodes. Each node is a large (~50 km), hexagonal or pentagonal space station supported via radiation pressure and the action of a modified Alcubierre-White Metric, which focuses light from the sun onto a high-capacity heat exchanger while also deflecting projectiles originating from outside Sol System. Negative mass is obtained by exploiting the Casimir effect on an industrial scale. Most of the negative mass is used to power the Metric bubble, but some goes towards regulating the nanogauge wormholes used for communication and some computational operations. Most of the thermal energy is radiated outwards to the next layer of the array. The heat exchange powers the diamond rod nanocomputers and life support systems for the node’s relatively small (~1km diameter) habitat sphere.
