Description
Very first real try sculpting a dragon in ZBrush.I had the tryout version two years ago but it was so damn complicated. This time I watched a whole bunch of Tutorial so I didn't mess up everything.
But I think I went a little too crazy with the details.... it took so damn long to finish this! ;_;

I just have a question... are both the top and bottom dragons the same one? The reason for asking is that the bottom right's jaw looks longer than the top left... or is it the angling? Sorry just curious!

Thank you! You mentioning Zbrush made me get curious, and now I have the trial version to play with! Whoo hoo! I just mourn the day it's over...I can't afford $700 to get the whole thing.

This is really cool! I dont think the details take away from the overall sculpt. It adds a nice realism to it

I don't think you went to crazy with the details- they don't overpower the major forms. Did you make this bad boy with the spiffy new dynamesh function? It's so awesome! <3

Can I ask, how many polygones are included? Looks like 20-30 millions.

Very rarely, can you ever go too crazy with details If it didn't take you long to finish, then I'd say you weren't doing yourself justice
I like, and want to see more! Teach me oh great one!

First off, WOW, i haven't seen a sculpted model this detailed in quite a while.
I have been doing 3D for almost 4 years now, and can say that I'm JUST NOW learning how to use textures and UVW mapping xD there's no way i would be able to make something this detailed without using textures. and then again, game modeling has its set of rules, so meh.
how many Tris is this? most i can run is 6 mil, and that kills my PC xD umm, all i can say here is great attention to detail, i really like how you went through the trouble of defining each and every scale, fold, and wrinkle. will be very interesting to see how awesome this looks Textured and UV mapped.
keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing more :3

I actually tried to figure out ZBrush. Even the most recommended tutorials are complicated. I can't seem to figure out the interface correctly. If it's not too much, would you mind directing me to those that were the most helpful to you? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Ah, thanks a lot. I knew using free tutorials wouldn't get me anywhere. I didn't want to spend the money on professional tutorials until I got comfortable with the software, but it looks like that's the only real way to go. Again, thanks a lot!

it's well explained and helped me a LOT.
And it's over 18 hours of video tutorial for 80 bucks. Very fair

Very nice dragon! 1st one really? I like the detailing in it's head although the detailing on the neck could be softened up more, as the neck+head looks busy...with lesser details on the neck, the head would pop out more...It's really easy to get tempted on going crazy with details on Zbrush...I know because I've been there
But I really liked the creature design! Cool job!

ok first of all buddy... THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! your attention to detail is astoundingly amazing. i mean this is exactly what an animator or a character designer is looking for in a person! are you in college for this? i love messing around on zbrush but this is by far the best dragon ive seen in a while. how exactly long did it take you to make this? and i have a few good pointers for ya. the teeth you could make cracked here and there on the front fangs and for the horns is it an old dragon or young because you can emphasis on the age by adding erosion or damage to the horns too. im sorry but finding work like this is amazing and truly rare. i mean everyone can make robots easily on zbrush but to make organic characters or animals takes a lot of dedication and training (skill if your lucky) but i truly am amazed by this! good job you deserve this big time!
