Thanks, it was a lot of fun doing it, even on 18 canvas - reading glasses were needed. *grins*

okay, for the Myth, Legends, and fairy tale contest - hopefully I squeaked under the wire on the 31st.
The Chimera is a monster - part lion, part goat, part snake. Most images of a chimera have both the goat head and lion head on the body, with the snake head at the end of the 'tail'. However I found a clip art in which the artist had it drawn with just a lion's head on a goat body, with a snake's tail - seemed more medieval to me, or at least, more Louis Carroll/Alice through the looking glass.

I sent the black and white drawing through my copy of PCStitch7, and chose DMC metallic thread, and the pattern came out with two golds, a silver and a purple. (The program tries to match the pixal colors to known floss). I then swapped the metallic thread for cotton floss, using two golds (they are really close, so they may not show different on the photo) pewter gray and purple. It is two strands of floss over one thread, in oatmeal colored #18 aida cloth.
