it really kills it, the transition of the tones is what makes an image like that work, you've got one gray tone across the whole image, completely ruins the transition from light to dark. Why do you even need a stamp?

I think it's artistic and not cheap. You aren't showing anything and let the viewer do all the thinking by choosing this composition.
