Description A misanthrope I would be without art

How many flowers in here can you name? Clue: the title.

Nana (Im Jin Ah) from After School! Developing a dig for the group. Along with flowers and feathers for good measure.

Far too long it's been without using colour pencils. I know the composition and overall coherence in this piece could be improved, but damn this was refreshing. Probably should have chosen a different paper as I had trouble layering colours because the surface was a little smooth.

40 hours using Faber Castel Classic Colours on A3 Bristol Board.

This is wonderful! Β Somehow she makes me think of Brazil--I guess it's from the flowers and feathers in her headdress. Β I've never even been there, but even as I type this and look at the picture, I can feel the Brazilian sun on my shoulders, smell those flowers, and hear the beat of the samba. Β It's true! Β I love how you put so much detail into everything, and I love how bright and colorful everything is. Β Favorited and added to my Kick-Ass Drawings collection!

This drawing is wonderful! I really like the amount of color you've managed to add to the drawing while still keeping the overall feeling of it harmonious. And naturally extra props for being creative and adding your own flavor to the portrait. This really inspires me to give my own Faber Castells some exercise as well...

Originality is something I believe everyone, not just artists, should strive for; of course observing and simulating the work of others is an extremely important learning method.

I can't say I found any issues with the colors. Autumn might be the time when everything's dying/going into hibernation, but at the same time plants tend to make a big show out of it and thus make the world explode in color, or at least that's what happens around here.

And yes, I absolutely agree with that. I think one should always strive to make what they're creating really represent oneself and add their own mark to what they're doing, otherwise one might not be able to keep it up on the long run. (No wonder I've been on hiatus for the last four years or so, ahah.)

Thanks Cory. And no, they're from a 48 pack of Faber Castel Classic colours that I bought around eight years ago. They're far cheaper, and I suppose of a lower quality to Polychromos. They do blend quite well and for the price, the're great for anyone beginning with colours.
