Finally got my hands on some Bristol board to draw on. Spent basically the entire day drawing her. Took about nine hours with the usual 2H, HB and 6B pencils. One thing's for sure: hair - one of the most tedious and time consuming things you'll ever want to draw.Reference: [link]

I didn't even need to read the title. I love those days when you ignore everything else and just draw.

Hair is probably the most annoying thing to draw after hands and foreheads (yes, I hate foreheads). But it looks great here, the strands are quite clear as to where they overlap and it looks pretty convincing to me.

Bristol Board is type of drawing paper; it's far thicker than cartridge so it can withstand a lot more pressure (perfect for when you're going full out on the eyes and blocking solid black in the hair, whereas shit like printer paper would get creased as hell and you see all pencil marks reflect in the light), and far less textured so it's even better for smudging smooth skin. Those would be the two biggest differences from Bockingford I can think of. Oh, and it's a good deal more expensive.

Honestly, I think Bristol Board is easier to work with and produces a better end result. A few dollars for a work of art isn't that bad is it?

Nah, it's not really the money, I guess I'm just happy with the results I'm getting with Bockingford, is all. If the day comes where I find that I need something better then I'd definitely be willing to spend a few dollars, but at the moment I think I'll be all right
