Description
Finally (sort of) got his coat working in Daz. There was a lot of BS and just various issues that didn't make any sense and only showed up upon importing into Studio. What I don't understand is that I've imported clothing from games in before and it didn't have the same issues that Dante's coat (and pants, for that matter) did. Maybe it's because I'm using Blender 2.8 now?Anyway, the coat's pretty janky, and there are some areas that are definitely gonna need a deformer or some work in post. But, I think I can work with it now.
Devil May Cry and its characters are © Capcom.

Oh my god, he does resemble Jaime Lannister a bit, yeah. I only ever watched the first couple of Game of Thrones episodes, so I hadn't noticed til you pointed it out.

Thank you! Although the credit for the outfit, hair, and design in general goes to Capcom. I'm just trying to recreate him in Daz.
The actual ripping from the game was already done by an XNALara importer (and good thing, because this probably would've been a lot worse off if I had been the one to do it). What I was trying to accomplish was getting the outfit from the model fitted onto G8M in Blender, and then importing it into Daz as an .obj and using the transfer utility to map the outfit to the figure. Of course I was counting on the weight mapping and movement to be awful, since it's a detailed trench coat with belts and zippers and such, but what was bizarre was that the clothes kept jumping from place when I ran transfer utility. So he'd end up with, for example, the waist of his jeans up to the middle of his ribs, the sole of his boots on the middle of his shin, etc, despite being in place correctly in Blender. His sleeves were also not matching up with his arms, again despite being in place in Blender.
I ended up having to incrementally lower the clothing in Blender and import into Daz until it fit correctly after the transfer utility. Even then, the sleeves wouldn't match up and I had to fiddle with them further and finally cut part of them off to get them to work.

I fit it to the figure in the default pose, but I do have the character's morphs dialed in. Then I go through the "hidden properties" in the outfit's parameters tab and manually zero out all the morphs after I've used transfer utility. I'm fairly sure there's a more proper way to get rid of the morphs by deleting them, but disabling them works just as well for what I'm doing and doesn't make things explode or crash lol.
Modifying the outfit in Blender after posing the figure is a good idea, though. I'll have to remember to try it sometime if I have an outfit get too fouled up after posing.
