Description
Religions like the Jehovah's Witnesses encourage family members to shun those who are "excommunicated", or "disfellowshipped", in fact, at the 2013 convention talks, they encouraged family members to disown their children and/or parents if they get disfellowshipped as seen in this video, and they even embrace Matthew 10:34-35 ("Do not think I came to put peace upon the earth; I came to put, not peace, but a sword. For I came to cause division, with a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a young wife against her mother‐in‐law."): www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yLdwe… .Jehovah's Witnesses also encourage those to shun family members who are "apostates" (an apostate, according to about any dictionary you can find is someone who no longer associates themselves with a religion or a political party, many JWs can be considered apostates since they may have left their church, to attend a Kingdom Hall), including avoiding speaking to them, commenting on their blogs, watching a program featuring them, this is the video for more information (and you can even notice a baby crying, it just sickens me that children get subject to this bullshit): www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSEVEe…
Because of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society's policies on disfellowshipping, I lost contact with my parents, and my bro (for a while, but we managed to find a way to hang out with each other), and I also lost friends (at least a few of them stuck with me), I was disfellowshipped at age 19 for having an affair with someone else's partner (they also caught me smoking pot but that wasn't really the main case).
And this isn't exclusive to the Jehovah's Witness cult, Mormonism and Scientology also encourage shunning (www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/dis… .
This stamp mostly talks about the Jehovah's Witness religion, but this also talks about other religions, and this stamp was made for people who refuse to follow the practice of shunning a person because they are either excommunicated, or are apostates.

I don't even consider Mormonism and JW to be Christian denominations. They are both cults and should be illegal.

I don't believe shunning is right even though I'm a Christian. Its mean and hateful, and I don't think God wants us to shun people just because they wont agree with us.

And for the record Jehovah`s Witnesses are heretics.

And using a word like heretic makes you sound like a witch-burning psychopath.

1) Unsurprisingly your not the first person to call me that.
2) And as I said, don`t lump as all in with the psychopaths.
3) Its true!

I'm not sure if this is true or not but I've heard that if you're a Jehovas witness than you cannot get blood transfusions or a lot of modern medicine.

Now you realize one reason why I refuse to join any of the religions you name. Mind-control.
I value my freedom.
Many members of said sects, out of fear of losing friends and/or status ,privileges, etc. hide their true beliefs.

My brain cannot understand why? I'm not christen, and correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the say stuff about loving each other and that?

We do love one another, but alot of Christians will take action against sin WAAAAAAAY too far. The people who stand around saying they hate gays are not really Christians, because we are supposed to have the love of God in us. Please keep in mind though that Christians aren't perfect, but we admit it when we are wrong and ask God for forgiveness.

"Do not think I came to put peace upon the earth; I came to put, not peace, but a sword. For I came to cause division, with a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a young wife against her mother‐in‐law."
That quote means that not everyone is going to agree with Jesus' teachings. People get really passionate about this and many a shitstorm has resulted.

I could never find it in my heart to disown my family like that. The more you talk about the Jehovah's Witnesses religion, the more I feel like cancelling my studies with my aunt (who is the one talking to me about it). I mean, I always knew you weren't supposed to really talk to disfellowshipped people, but to disown them? I couldn't!

Indeed, the religion just sickens me, and I have no intention to come back, even if I never get to speak with my parents, hell; I haven't even spoken to my parents in years, it's like as if they're dead, a few of my at-the-time-JW friends were also DF'd or disassociated after I got disfellowshipped, luckily this means I can speak to them, and I even work with one of them.
And I'd also recommend visiting this website, this talks about the Fall of Jerusalem debate (607 BCE vs 587 BCE): www.607v587.com

The Amish do this to, and as far as I'm concerned this is a form of abuse. Actually others have explored it being a form of abuse. Although if my family did this to me I would disown them rather them disowning me. If they didn't love me enough enough that they would abuse me I would have no use for them. As cold as that sounds the people that do this are even colder.

Yup, exactly, I haven't even spoke to my parents in years now.

Those talks you showed in the description disgusted me, and made my stomach turn, the JW religion is such a manipulative, evil (that's right, I said it), messed up cult. Heck, I'm even surprised they even embrace that controversial scripture known as Matthew 10:34-35 (and Christians thought that Jesus was such a nice, perfect man).
I can see where you're coming from, and I am glad to not ever have been baptized, sure saves me a lot of trouble.

Indeed, what the Governing Body does is disgusting.
And yes, avoid baptism. And to scare off a Jehovah's Witness, this is what you can do: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XueH1… They'll be scared and run away, works every time*.
