HI GUYS LONG TIME NO SEEI've been super busy this semester with an animation project, so barely had any time for anything other than that. Thankfully I finished it all a few weeks ago and been enjoying my freedom. Here's some of the concept stuff from it!

OHHHH WELL... first, I though it was going to be a 2d animation, but the final result is so amazing! I didn't expect your characters in 3d! they look amazing, and of course it certainly cost a lot (the riggin part, oh xD)

Well I just generally like creepy forests and graveyards etc haha, but I actually did look at over the garden wall for some inspiration to check how they did the forest stuff!

If you don't mind me asking, what are you going for in school? Like what is your major/degree?
I only ask because I absolutely love your work, and I really want to get into concept art and/or animation (it seems like that's what you're doing in school mostly, I assume at least) but I don't really know how to go about doing this sort of thing.Β
I would love any sort of advice, only if you're willing of course, I don't want to be a bother.Β

I'm doing 3D animation, and they basically teach you everything you need to create it from scratch. We have some life drawing and a few art related modules but if you really want to focus on concept art it's mostly something you'd have to improve on your own, since there's sooo muchhhhh to do when it comes to 3D that drawing the concepts barely scratches the surface haha. 2D is probably better if you prefer the drawing side. But I guess it also depends on what school you pick since they all work in different ways. Some 3D animation courses don't teach you anything about the creation and are 100% about the animation and movement part, some others are very technical. I applied to 4 different unis, all being the same degree, but they were all quite different in their structure. The reason why I picked the one I did is because the first 2 years are there so you can really find what areas of 3D you prefer the most (it can just be concept art) and during third year you can purely work on improving those skills so you have a nice portfolio/showreel once you graduate, and not just a bit of everything looking semi decent because you hate some parts but love others. So yeah! Check out different schools, see which ones sounds the most interesting!

I'm in a 2 year school right now for computer art in general, but I've really been trying figure out what I'm going to do after that to get into something more specific, like the animation. I'll check rather on your tumblr from now on xD I'm happy to see part of what you've been working on ! The version you storyboarded as the final short are woth really great, and even if you've worked on different kind of character designs, I could see it was your work before I saw your name below the deviant xD (The hair has betrayed you !)

There was supposed to be one at first (as you can see in the storyboard) but the lecturers didn't like it and said it was too easy to end it that way and that it felt like the beginning to something bigger instead of a complete story, so had to change the whole thing... >_>
