(This may or may not be a controversial opinion, but I'm personally against the practice of cropping and docking for purely aesthetic reasons.)

Eh, ears and tail are small things compared to other things that get the snip.
Some countries banned cropping and docking, not too hard to imagine why.

Good point here! Snipping down animal's their ears and tail is something I always have seen as animal abuse.

8 ( I am now sad. Great message though! Always nice to see a message like this in kid type comics, reminds me of Appa's lost days.
And I'm against docking too. I don't really see the reason for it and it's even worse when the vets don't treat it or do it properly :/ if your just have the have it go to a good vet, but even then I wouldn't. Docking the tail can ruin the spine. And there's no reason.
I've seen vets that anesthesia and give pain meds but I still don't support it.
We owned two cats, Baby Bop and her sister Rosie. We got them from the shelter as small kittens, apparently according to the people there their owners docked their tails themselves. With scissors. At their age, they were a few weeks old. Baby Bop's was done right at the base of her butt(so improper) and Rosie was a quarter of the way down(so also improper). No anesthetic or pain meds, just SNIP. Damn SCISSORS.
They had spinal issues their whole lives but Baby Bop had severe nerve issues later in her life and she would maul her own leg and feet. She bit her toes off.

We agree with you on that sentiment. Cropping and docking a dog for purely aesthetic reasons is evil. It's like cutting off a baby's ears and thumbs.

I definitely agree. I can understand if cropping needs to be done for medical reasons (AKA constantly breaking tail by wagging it into things like my friend's dog used to--) but purely aesthetic reasons, ugh. No. There are two danes at my daycare that were abandoned by breeders and they had botched the cropping on their ears. They're sweet boys but it makes me feel so sad to see those notches in their ears and the funny positions the ears healed in

Aww, this was both funny and sad. I knew a family friend who had a Doberman, but she had floppy ears and a tail. That was when I learned they aren’t born with that cropped look. Also, love the poses you give your characters. Dynamic but not overstated

I would say it’s a good balance, yes. This comic is simply adorable! I also like how the paneling has the look of a classic comic strip. Not to busy so the eye can focus on the characters. Kind of like Garfield or Dilbert
