I finally had some time to complete a piece for the occasion this year!
It's yer boy... General Grievous! The (not a) droid general himself! And it's his design as it appears in the 2D Clone Wars Cartoon Network shorts. (Recently rewatched the first season/series and it's just pure nostalgia. 
)Man... Six years... it's been too long, my friend.
For those of you who don't know, I'm probably one of the biggest Grievous nuts you'll ever meet. I used to draw him all the time (some pics are linked below) and I have an embarrassingly large collection. You name it, I probably have it. That said, though, Grievous collected lightsabers so... I think he'd approve.
It feels so good to draw something Star Wars again after so long. Wow.Might do something for Revenge of the Fifth tomorrow too... we'll see.
I LOVE STAR WARS!!! *runs off swinging plastic lightsaber and making obligatory "whoosh" "clash" sound effects through her teeth*

I've noticed Grievous. When he gets annoyed, he starts making mistakes.
(though a light-sabre and a blaster, with the skill of Obi Wan, wouldn't be so bad either...)

Grievous looks badass handling four lightsabers. I think he needed more screen time in the movie. I think he came out awesome in this.

He certainly does! Always a pleasure to watch. I almost had him wield four here, but three seemed like enough when I finished the sketch.
I'd have loved for him to have more screentime, but I'm happy we got as much as we did (I seriously thought in RotS he'd only have like 2 minutes collectively and it was way more) and that he gets a lot of time in TCW.

Grievous isn't in their category (not a droid, but a cyborg), but Threepio and Artoo are the a couple of my favorite Star Wars characters too.

Ahhhh!! It's so cool to see star wars fanart from you, Nala!! I remember how much you love this boy :'D will you be watching the end of TCW on Disney+ when it comes out? I'm so excited <3 He looks so great in this style btw! In recent years I finally allowed myself to watch Star Wars and I really love all that George Lucas-era material, not so much Disney's version but eh. I've always been fascinated with the prequel era specifically, so much intrigue and plotting lmao.
While I'm not particularly attached to Grievous I gotta say I adore the way the TCW cartoon bent backwards to not break canon and did the impossible to not allow Anakin and Grievous to meet lmao

I tried to get him as close to his crisp, cartoon-design as possible. Even put the lines in Illustrator with a live trace to get them nice and super smooth.
The original trilogy will always be my favorites as far as the films themselves and the main characters go, but I agree that the prequel trilogy does have an intricate story. The new trilogy is a hit and miss for me, but I like it overall. It does feel Star Wars to me, and that's the most important thing I need in order to enjoy ANYTHING that calls itself Star Wars. Looking forward to seeing what happens in IX.
