Description
I will admit, I didn't play Pokémon after Gen 5, though that's mainly bc of money & my 3DS dead.Gen 1 was a good start of Pokémon's introduction, but it's not a great way to introduce players about the concept of Pokémon battles due to its unbalanced & glitched features.
(Also the fact that Kanto is arguably the most bland region, most regions have the same bland grassy fields without further exploration in regional geography; suck it Genwunners.)
Gen 2 was a small improvement with patches in gameplay, but it's ridiculously rushed & came off as half baked; not enough Johto Pokemon in Johto.
(It's viewed as the Sequel to Pokemon Yellow)
Gen 3 is arguably the best IMO, providing intermediate difficulty, a helpful Help selection screen in Firered for beginners, & the best music Game Freak orchestrated.
Gen 4 is when Pokemon did became more story driven, I also think the geography in Sinnoh is colorful with each area, plenty of Pokemon in Sinnoh are also memorable.
(The Physical/Special Split was a godsend in Pokemon, if not the best ambitious move Game Freak has done when applying further tweaks in Pokemon)
Gen 5 is Pokemon's experimental phase at its peak, highly underrated with the best lore, the sequel expanded the Post Game mechanics, & by far the most replayable pokemon game out.
