I made this mask two years ago for Halloween. When I wore it nobody knew I was a character from Bioshock. Maybe it was due to the fact that I wasn't holding a crowbar or something. (Oh yeah, funny thing: I asked the head of tech crew if I could borrow a crowbar but he wouldn't let me carry it around campus so he gave me a "cat's paw" instead, which is a VERY small version of a crowbar. It sucked ass, but very obvious as to why he wouldn't let me...lolz)The mask itself is made of tin foil, wire, and newspaper. It was really fun to wear and rather simple to make. Balancing the weight of the ears was a little tricky but it eventually pulled through. Oh yeah... and the blood painting/splattering was sooooooooooooooooooo much fun .

Would it trouble you if I told/typed you the tutorial instead? The process for making the Splicer Mask was super simple that I could just tell you up front.
Plus, I don't have the time to make an in-depth tut like I did for the Mercer Claws...

Materials: Tin foil, masking tape, newspaper, Elmer's glue, wire, white and red acrylic paint
Here's what I did:
1) I folded a sheet or two of tin foil (for durability), stuck it to my face, and tried molding out the contour of my eye and brow area. I also look a Sharpie to draw where my eyes were on the tin foil. Once I got a rough mold of my face, I cut it out in the splicer mask shape. Use the masking tape to keep the tin foil together at the edges (especially helps when you cut the eye holes out).
2) Now make the ears using the wire and several sheets of tin foil. The wire acts as an armature/support for the tin foil that's sculpted around it. Masking tape some the edges together to keep the tin foil in place.
3) Attach the ears to the face mask (using the masking tape) and you should now have a rough tin foil and masking taped bunny mask. (It's a bit tricky to keep the ears from falling everywhere, so make sure you get the ears to firmly stay in place.) Now, cut small strips of newspaper and drench them in the Elmer's glue to paper mache the entire mask. If there's other's materials you know of that's better for paper mache, use that.
4) Leave the mask to dry a bit. After that, paint the whole thing white and add some splattery blood effects if you want!
And that's pretty much it!

brilliant! i was thinking about putting together a splicer costume but wasn't too sure how i'd go making the mask. your attempt was full of win and really inspiring!

What type of paint did you use? I wanna go out for halloween as a splicer this year so im gonna make the bird mask

For the white I used white primer, the regular wall primer for houses. The blood is red acrylic, Golden brand to be specific.

Oh yeah, those Houdini splicers. Those are a pain in the ass; you try to kill them in one area and in the next moment you realize you're running around the entire city chasing them.
