i've always enjoyed your art, but if it feels like your losing your zeal maybe consider joining tumblr? there's a lot of art circulating the site, and a decent community for artists. maybe take the time to find what you enjoy in others artwork, or seek to expand your styles. it's easy just to post scraps as you do them. maybe without the following and structure here on deviantart you can relax and rekindle your passion for art? take some inspiration from the rest of the world -  the color compositions of photos, recreating landscapes, relating your art the current situations. honestly i lost my passion long time ago so im not one to talk ;-;

anyway i joined deviantart to support the artists i love, rather than admiring from afar, and to keep up to date on their work. i was also hoping that coming back here would inspire me to pick up my pencil again, but that hasn't happened.

When I first joined dA, it was mostly to be able to favorite and show support to artists that inspire me, and then show a few of my own works.

When I came back to dA after a several year gap, I wanted community and improvement. I had left art behind and I wanted a hobby to my own, while on my own, since I had graduated college and separated from many of my close friends. I needed something for me.

I understand to a degree what you're experiencing; I have found myself debating the same thing quite often this year. It truly stunted any artistic progress on my part. In the end, as a small, unknown artist compared to yourself, I've kept my account for community, but I've also decided not to settle for less, and to push myself and learn and grow where I can and experiment, whether others support me or not. Some of it leaks onto here, but what I do for myself helps me grow as an artist, and slowly improves the existing "predictable" work that's typically uploaded to my account.

I believe you have a very unique style, between the way you draw your shapes, the limited colors you use, and the sharp contrast you have between angles and curves. I find it fascinating and it inspires me because it's not the same as many others. But if you feel stuck and need to grow and branch out, DO IT! Artists will support that, and ultimately, your art is yours. It's your expression, your mind; your power, your breath. If it doesn't make you happy, then it doesn't matter. So do what you feel you have to do for your own sake.

My primary goal when I first joined DeviantArt was to become part of the community. I always liked to hear nice things about my drawings and talk about other people's art. I wanted to participate in group events and such, though I only ever joined one RP group in the long run, and I've always been too shy to talk to people lol. Nowadays, I mostly just like to observe the art of others while silently improving on my own in the shadows. Since I've gotten more critical of my own art in recent years, I take a lot longer to finish pieces, and thus, don't finish much anymore. It's kind of sad, but I feel my style's improved dramatically when I focus on just sketching, and not color/shading/etc.

Also, on the note of you possibly leaving DA, well, you can if you want to, but I'm sure your watchers would still enjoy watching you explore and try new things! Though I do really love your current style, I'd be interested to see anything else you come up with!

I first joined to share some of my pencil fan art of games. Wasn't very creative back then.

Also I don't see any reason to leave Deviantart if you want to explore more topics. You don't HAVE to dedicate this particular account to that style you've created. Personally I'd say just keep em coming, be it your current style, or anything new you want to try. You've inspired countless artists so far (including me) without even trying. I'm sure the same could happen with anything new you'd try.

My primary goal for joining DeviantArt is actually two things that I want equally. Those are to share and improve my writing. I've been told I'm a great writer, but I want to get criticism from people who I'm not that close to so I can get better. I'm having a bit of writer's block right now, though. T_T

My primary goal for joining Deviantart was just posting art and connecting with others that had the same interests (like liking the same show/video game). Also it was easier to follow my favorite artists and receive notifications whenever they post something.

It's okay to take a break. Sometimes forcing yourself to draw until you're satisfied just makes things worse and pressures yourself more.

Well, as I went along, I had realized that maybe I should try to make a name for myself, as well. So I would say now my true main goal was just, really, to be as big and as noteable as other great artists are on here, to join the ever growing circle of great artists.

I first joined deviantart because I'm was and I'm style a fan art lovers, and I loved to search here for my favorites video games and series, viewed through the eyes of artists. It's only later that I decided to take a pencil and begin drawing.

Away from your comfort zone ? Just run into it and hug it.
This is probably the best advice I've ever got teached and I can spread. Step out of your comfort zone. Always try new things.
What's the point of being so good to draw the face of a character, but not knowing how to draw his body in a good proportions because you never got the courage to try ?
I love your art because it's inspire me feelings, I can imagine so much things with it, sometimes I just want to relate at it like some sort of fairy tales that I can like, and identifie it as something I can understand as a person.
I don't care that you're first attempts in a new styles or new horizons are messed up, or even shitty for the worst case, because I know what you are capable of, what you are really able to do. Why would I hate that you try something new ? You don't need to feel like quitting because you fear that we won't like what you are planning to do. It costs nothing to try.
I  like your arts and it will not change, you can turn to a more realistic looking style, less abstract, or even more confuse, it doesn't change that I liked your artworks and I have no reason to stop you from trying a new thing. Will I like it ? I don't know, and I don't care.
The point for me is that I know what you can do, and I will not be judging that you consider changing, it will not shred the love I got for the artist you are. I will still support you.

Just go for it.

Firstly, this is is beautiful! All of your art amazes me with the amount of detail, and I adore your style. I love the coloring style as well, looking at your art inspires me a lot!

Second - I joined deviantArt so that I could improve my style and branch out with technique. When I first joined, I had just started drawing, and seeing others in the community who I could talk to really helped me learn to love creating art. Though I didn't get many critiques at first, I started to look at my friends' and others' art and find things in a style that I liked visually, and try to incorporate similarities. I also wanted the aspect of meeting new people who had many of the same interests, and finding out that I wasn't completely alone in my interests was really nice for me, because it gave me more outward social confidence and helped me become more involved with people around me.

Oh my god if you leave deviantart I might turn inside-out. I'm literally stalking the front page all the time waiting for the next art to get posted.

I originally joined because I wanted to post my watercolor paintings. And like you I was frustrated after awhile. One day I made a really stupid simple Sentret fanart, and it turned out people liked it. So I just kept doing pokemon fanart for awhile. It was a nice step away from what was my original comfort zone (I thought I'd get teased for being an adult still playing pokemon games) and for a time it worked out really well and I improved a LOT. I am on a hiatus right now tho, my health needs to take the priority at the moment so I'm stepping away again to catch my breath. I kinda want to go back to watercolors when I'm all rested up. Maybe see if the filligree-lineart style I've been using for my pokemon can be worked with the watercolors; something I've been tempted to try but just haven't done yet v.v Maybe get into fanarts of other things too while working on my original stuff. When I take a step back like this I don't really plan, I just go for what feels right when I decide I'm ready again. I'm a little worried for you that you seem more eager to please your fanbase before making art to help yourself, so it's understandable why you seem to feel so overwhelmed. Try to worry less about what others think of you or your art dear, worry more about what you want to do for you to be well

I joined deaviant art for two main reasons :
-First of i joined to learn more about art ,watch other people and learn more in order to improve myself as an artist .
At first i only wanted to watch others and continue to draw without showing to no one else but i started seing so many people showing their art good or bar it didnt matter theese people made surpass a bit of my shyness and started posting my art .

-Second i wanted to find my style and ....meet new people bit it isnt easy .

I understand that people may loose their spark but if they think that they are passionate in their art they should continue doping it maybe take a break and fins the spark again but continue to do what you love.

I have to admit that your art is impressing for lack of a better a word i do line a lot .thanks for readind have a nice day or night depending of the time you read this .

I joined deviantart as a way to find artists to commission, actually. I have very little artistic ability myself, and find that i don't have the patience or drive to improve. I also am a huge Gamer, and love Tabletop RPG's like Dungeons and Dragons. I joined to find artists that i thought could bring my characters into the visual world. In this way, i support artists and art as well as meet my own selfish desires.

As far as your behavior lately, I think its perfectly understandable. It seems like you are no longer satisfied with your growth as an artist. I think that like you said, it would be a good idea to step outside your comfort zone, in style as well as substance. I know of no other way to grow as an individual. Even if you end up not liking where it takes you, it will likely help you understand yourself better.

As far as what i want to see from you, I will be happy with whatever you feel like posting. I know that sounds cliche, but you have a unique outlook on things if i can judge from the pieces and descriptions you have shared with us. I like seeing and reading these. I am sure that whatever you choose to do, your own style will seep in and become more apparent. With luck, it will help you regain that spark you feel you are losing.

Regardless, i look forward to you future posts, even if you decide to leave deviantart.

Serious talk activated : Hey Nano !
Well you finnaly told us ^^ No need to apologise tho, i think you shouldn't stress yourself by speeding up important decisions.

( Beware, i'm making a lot of "guess" based on how i understand you, so i might be wrong ^^ I still think it could be interesting somehow ? And I'm not trying to be like the mean "I know all", just like, my brain train of thought is really uncommonn trying to understand people all the time )

------------

Kinda talked about your art already, the changements it followed, and i would say that even if your symbolism didn't "improve" ( it was really damn good right off the bat ), I feel the art itself, the way of drawing, improved well as you changed along with it.

I wouldn't say you're getting predictable, if i get the word the right way, since you always bring a new interesting meanings in many new works, but i guess that you can say that mastered your way of drawing and improving on that way is harder now.

To be honest, i was kinda hoping/thinking you would try new topics soon, because the you now is really far from the old you and that means you could change themes/topics and such ( My way of seing it ), but since yourself changed slowly, the changes in your art are subtle, invisible to the eyes that don't look for it and the themes didn't shift because a shift is by definition, brutal.

Tho, i think it's normal/right for you to get away from this comfort zone... Maybe it's time for you to redefine yourself ? But, it's my guess what you may be thinking "Will everyone on DeviantArt udnerstand why i change so suddently ? Understand why my topics are changing out of the blue after so long ? Wouldn't they feel betrayed ?". So you want to change, but you're afraid of (/confused about) what people would think ?

And that's why you're wondering if you should leave DA ? To be free of your topics, to fail if necessary, to suprise, to improve, to discover, etc.

So the final question : What kind of content I expect from you ( Strangely it link to the talk above ) ??
->
My answer : I wanna see "you", not you "restrained", i think that if you want to change, to leave DA for that, you're freakin' free to do it, i would feel ashamed to tie you down, because to me it's the continuation of what you've done so far.
You're free to change, fail, waver, surprise, amaze.

------------

Damn, on page 4 of comments now, I took so long to write dis xD
I must look like a random crazy guy ! Like "Wtf does he know !" ^^

Pff too long already to add my reason of joining DA to this post + I don't wanna crowd it, it was kinda kinda dedicated to ya, i guess i will have to give up on a free sketch xD ... ;_;

+Edit : The artwork is amazing.

Aaaaaaa, I always enjoy seeing your art ;v; I really enjoy the halloween style in this piece uvu

When I first joined DA, I had no digital art skill whatsoever. I loved seeing digital pieces and I wanted so badly to create my own characters and actually be able to draw them instead of depending on others to draw them for me. I wanted to become a well known artist for someone who was making art on a mac without any special programs besides a simple vector program that I bought from the apple store. Months and a few years passed and I grew to become more well known and it felt kinda cool and I was actually proud of myself for reaching a goal that I wouldn't have thought possible.

However, life was starting to happen and I couldn't keep up with DA and my art at the same time, so I ended up closing my account and leaving for about 2 years. But now that things are slowing down again, I've decided to come back and start from scratch because I missed making art and drawing and being apart of this community ;v; I have to completely relearn how to draw now that I have proper programs, but I'm enjoying it so far uvu It's definitely nice to be back!

I personally don't think you should leave DA, but that's just from my personal experience. Don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone and try new things and new styles! Artists are meant to grow and keep trying new things and to improve and grow even more. It may seem awkward at first, but if you keep working at it, then you'll soon master it!

If you feel like you are tiring of your own artwork, I definitely think that you should at least try to tip-toe out of your comfort zone and see what you're capable of.
Do sketches and the like. You don't even have to post them here if you are unsatisfied, but I don't think that you should keep droning on if you feel that you're "losing your spark".
That is never a good thing for an artist, or anyone period.
I'd just like to see you happy with your work, as I'm sure many others here would, too. ^^
I wish you the very best of luck. ~
