Description
yet another illustration practice thing based on my fave Redwall book, Martin the Warrior. Its repetitive, isnt it? XD But its always my favourite subject to use when practising stuff haha.Related content

Thats awesome, they're such great books, arent they? Did you ever see that fold out map they used to sell in bookshops which had characters from various redwall books around the side too?

No! I never saw that, although I did watch the TV show faithfully. And they are pretty good books, although Martin the Warrior made me pretty friggen sad by the end of it XD but aside from that I loved the Redwall series, it got me into reading biiig time.

This is nice, though I think with a vignette it'd be nicer if their tails came out of the background a little more to make it pop. Lower right tail creates a tangent with the edge of the illustration which flattens it a bit.

Thanks! Yeah, I agree. I was trying to emphasize that they were all squished inside a pit with the tails, but it was really difficult composition wise, and I was trying too hard to be decorative with it. After much trial and error I think I work best with thinking about composition within the story being told rather then thinking about the decorative execution of the over all thing.

It's always good to keep a balance of aesthetic/plastic composition and literate composition. I think in this case it's pretty obvious to the viewer that they're in a pit and it looks squished enough, but the aesthetic side of things is looking a little uncomfortable because of the tail issue.
I've also just noticed the one tail doesn't belong to who I thought it did.
