I'm really glad you like this...and Ruby! I'm honestly disappointed she had to go, I think it would have been nice for her to continue in that role, but it did make sense for them to kill her off at that juncture.

Exactly! Even at the end, at the finale, she was a mixture of soft/hard, love/hate. She was kinda amazing, how she played Sam (and ME!! I really thought she was playing for the good side lol). I'm gonna miss her too.

dude I think tho what she did was thinking it was for his best tho. That was the cutest thing evar... the "dumbo" had me crying big time when rewatched the finale. Gawd... I'm an old sentimental fart, kill me now. I want roobee back waaah!!!

You, and a hundred others, were completely right! I thought that the ending would bother me, but Cortese played it really well. All the ambiguity, the mixing of soft/loving with hard/evil worked out really well in her favour, the reveal was great work! I was grinning like crazy haha, in spite of what she did to Sam!!
Yep, Cortese is amazingly gorgeous!

See, it started out as hippy - there was green leaves and innocent face and then it twisted into this. Shes complicated and I like that.
Its nice that Castiels vessel got a back-story, I'd love to see Ruby get one too! (not the vessel, becuase she's in a coma). Demon eyes were fun! But I don't think look very realistic

Meh, they wont make an ep about Ruby, the majority of fans would not like it very much. Pity, tho.

See, theres a lot of Cassidy fans here on dA but I hardly ever see fanart for it! There was practically nothing for brunette!Ruby (except I think ~SilviHenna is doing some so yay!) and it made me sad. So I made some. The boys get a lot of love

Now, in terms of Cortese's acting skills: I know there are many people that think she doesn't pull of Ruby and her acting falls flat, is bad...but I don't see it! I think it works, I can watch it and I never get the sense that she doesn't deliver. Her character was working for me .
I think, personally haha, Cortese's Ruby has more 'soul' and depth than Cassidy's now. That's an unpopular opinion *runs and hides*

I think there is a lot of potential for Ruby's character though, you're definitely right! fingers crossed

about the skills ..... don't liked them .. for me she is rending the character flat ,superficial and confused ...

she is not able to convince me and isn't only question of writting or skills but also appearance

for example you are a demon and you are going in war against angels demons and humans and you choose to possess the form of a hobbit for do it ?????

haha, hobbit - thats mean! She only looks so small because Jared is SO huge! Plus, the demon in her makes Ruby much supernaturally stronger. Her form does not matter, just that she is a demon inside

I think its cooler to have a tiny demon (think about the children Lillith posessed) than a really big hulky one. It's scarier in some ways

of course but with lillith is more a mental staff ....
ruby have more "body-contacts" with other demons (also them extra demon powered and everytime she is loosing).


but more important .. i used to love when she called dean short bus ......

See, there is a totally different response to Ruby depending on whether you are male or female viewer (generalisation I know, there are probably a few women that think Ruby is the sexiest thing alive, and there are probably a few men that think Ruby is boring). I just have one question, if you weren't attracted to Ruby, would she still be an interesting character??
No no, this really isn't a feminist trap! I can safely say that I would not be as interested in Sam and Dean if they were not ridiculously manly and hot, but I would still be interested in their development nevertheless.

well, to be honest I wasn't actually attracted to her initially. I had flashbacks of Roseanne(wow Im old) when they replaced Becky for an entire season haha. It felt like that and I was a bit disappointed cause I thought the first Ruby was waaaaaaay cuter. but...Supernatural wasn't taking any great leaps in storytelling gymnastics by giving her a new body. It was well within the established boundaries of the Supernatural universe to do that. Usually something like that ends up being a logistical nightmare in the storyline or they just have to replace the person and pretend nothing actually changed. I bet when the writers decided on it they were thanking their lucky stars they came up with the whole demon-body-changing earlier cause it allowed everything to fall into place and let them look like they had tremendous foresight even though I'm pretty sure it was just dumb luck. Wow I digress. Anyway, this Ruby has been Ruby longer than the first Ruby so to me she is Ruby now. Thats might be the most "Rubies" ever used in a single sentence. Call Guinness please. So with all that said, yes she was cute initially, I can't deny that, but what I liked about the first Ruby was that she was kinda girl-next-door cute and not demon-sexy. The new Ruby is both in a way. She looks like she could be equal parts sweet and hellfire evil. I dig contrast and contradiction in characters. Conflict is the best drama. So this is all an extremely long way for me to say that I dug her at first a bit, but now I like her character more, and thus find her more attractive because she is much better written and more involved. Then again I do like bad girls so I may be biased hehe.

As far as the blood drinking I say bring it on! If she was just sweet all the time it wouldn't be believable that shes actually a demon. "Good guys(or gals)" are never ALWAYS good so I wouldn't want a good demon to be always good either. She's got her own agenda somewhere it just hasn't shown its true colors yet.

YES! I know exactly what you mean as replacement, it takes a while to get used to it...but usually you do . Roseanne, man, that's pretty old dude. I used to watch that and not have a clue what was going on, that's how young I was.

YES! that's a second resounding yes, dear lord. I think that's the key to why I like this version more. She's smart and sweet, but at the turn of a bat can be sexy and ruthless. Conflict and ambiguity is better in that sense...but I was totally falling for her 'goodness'. I like bad girls that are inherently good, that has been my preference for a while, and feeding blood to Sam is on the manipulative end. I can't tell whether the writers want me to like her or hate her. Yes, I can agree that the demon in her would have her own agenda, but it always seemed that her agenda was to battle demons for whatever reason that was. Feeding blood makes sense, its just that it flies in the face of what they were building on earlier in the season. SIGH.

I'm very peculiar when it comes to interpretations. If I have one? I don't like it to be ruined suddenly, it has to be a slow change

See, thats what I can totally agree on. Whether or not her actions do indeed help Sam and the greater good, they are intended as good. This is why I can like Ruby as a character (just need some more consistency!)

She does indeed create a nice parallel to Anna, though Anna definitely hasn't won me over yet .

Yup. Although, I like Katie Cassidy more because she brought a fun side to Ruby. This season, I understand is more serious, but I think the character of Ruby suffered dimension. She's secretive, yes, she's badass, yes, but she's not funny anymore. I guess I'm just getting used to Genevieve Cortese's take on her.
Anna, I hope can really shine as a character. Her story started out weird, but it got better. And talk about secrets!

I hear what you're saying, many people seem to have issues with Cortese's take on her but see some of it is due to the writers as well? The humour is off, yes, I agree. But the new Ruby has been written as less playful, possibly because she has gone to and returned from hell again?

Hey, you know what? It's cool that I've met an Anna fan because you can tell me what you like about her. Your interpretations and then maybe my POV may be balanced

Well, Anna is the typical fallen angel (if that can be typical). She's cynical, realistic and afraid. Angels shouldn't be afraid. She's troubled by her disobedience, but she doesn't regret the decision. She loves the human species, with all their quirks and emotion driven actions. And she's flawed. Which I love so much because there's room for three-dimensional character personality. The writers, the actors, can give Anna, as a character, so much life in the show.
Then there's the balance to Ruby. You know, the cliche angel and demon on your shoulder. Not to mention that Anna slept with Dean. Haha. That was perfect. I think that totally, but subtly, cemented the rift between the brothers because each chose an inhuman...lover. Of course, they're hunters, and the series isn't a romance, but it definitely says something about the brothers.

Hmm, see Anna doesn't seem flawed to me, she seems too perfect and indeed that is the reason that I might not like her yet. She is too self-sacrificing, especially for a fallen angel. I don't know, I think I'd expect a little more bitterness. Her belief in humanity? That I like though!
As for the balance to Ruby, I always saw Castiel as that! He's the one closest to Dean, just as Ruby is closest to Sam. There is a better balance there. Plus, if Ruby represents evil, then Castiel must represent good. Both (were) ambiguously grey characters.
But then it's true, if you bring sexual relationships into it, Ruby is the balance to Anna. Interesting...
