Updated the last one (i put it in scraps if you want to see it)this one is a bit of a tricky one...i feel like ive lost all sense of selection recently.. i think i put so much thought into it that i just dont know what looks good anymore...

im studying at uni at the moment.. im on 1st year photography..
this is my digital photoshop stuff so i guess its self taught.. mostly work with film at uni...

oh no don't get me started! well i did an art foundation course (distinction, YAY!) and was holding a place at northampton uni on the fine art course, 'cos i'v been a painter and drawer most of my life. went on a gap year, and for reasons unknown cancelled the application to apply to brighton instead. the three interviewers at brighton butchered me on the stake and parraded me arround on the pier before telling me "look into illustration" (b*****ds). i was completely and utterly lost when by fate (corny, i know) i found myself seeing signs i should change my path, so i braught a good camera, and am about to apply for a photography course at my local college!
so basically to sum up i'm self taught lol

sorry the for late reply... my life was pretty much like that.. i didnt do art for gcse or alevel... left school and went into law and HR... and then suddenly had a revelation at 25 that i hated my job and wanted to do something creative.. so i literally packed my bags and went off to uni.. been here nearly a year and a half now and it was the best decision i ever made.. i could eat sleep and breathe photography and never get fed up!

good job...i would like to see the rest of the image surrounding the magnifying glass with more of a blur, too. and maybe not have the edges quite so blurred/bleached or darkened. it distracts my eyes some (but if you add more blur to the pic overall it might work out) anyway, i'm no professional - just thought i'd throw those things out there. good work though! ^^

yeah..like i said it did cross my mind... but it just didnt work in my eyes when i did it.. it would make more sense though.. i guess.. considering depth of field and all that.. thank you for the comment! i really like to hear peoples thoughts.. it helps me out so much.. xx

hmmm... maybe you could try to give it a brownish tint to give it an older/worn feel and keep the magnifying glass black...? I can't really think of anything else (because it's great already), but I know that I like ideas thrown out ... hope they help some

Maybe it would be a nice touch to keep the image in the glass in focus and slightly blur the rest to really get a feel of "inspecting" the image, very lovely in black and white tho

yes.. there is a slight blur to it... i did experiment with the blur but just thought it looked better without... it kinda got lost with it...

haha well kinda coz i cn hang out with uni ppl but otherwise i think we got ripped off with it tbh ... so me dori etc wanna go out for the day sumwhere else... how bout you, are you going?? or are you one of the ppl hes bitching bout who hes payd for and never told they wernt coming ... he spent OUR money buying other ppls tickets ... i would have made it so we sign sumit if we go we go otherwise fuck em ... but no he spent our money!!! grrrrrr

Yeah thats what we think well we asked for a break down and all told him it was a joke how much it was and he sed blame the other 13 or whatever ppl that havent payed ad he has payed for them, im fuckin pist and i want my money back ... sorry but he shud have made a sign up sheet so he KNEW who was going etc ... shit really ... now ppl wont pay and hes even sayin he will take leagel *however u sp it!!* action whoever hasnt payed but i think thats bollocks... all i kno is im geting the money bck that wasnt used ...
